We all know that carbon is the source of lifeforms and every living thing found on this earth contain carbon of some form and matter.
Now for most people studying chemistry are there lifeforms on earth that are not a carbon based life form? Carbon had been widely studied and believed that this is what life is made up of. Then there is another school of thought for people trying to match properties to carbon, and that is where a suggestion of the close neighbour of carbon, the silicon a good option for forming up possible lifeform.
However, when we look a little deeper into the stabilities of silicon and carbon and the type of chemicals required for metabolism/oxidation, they are very much different as silicon cannot be using water like how carbon does. So in order for it to work similar, alternate metabolism pathway will be required, but unfortunately that is essentially altering nature which I really think is not a good thing.
So while lifeform is still carbon based, let's always live life to the fullest.
Didn't knew there is an study on possible alternative
