Recently I spoke to a fellow colleague whom had already hit his year of retirement and ask if he is ready for it because in the company policy, when one hits the retirement year, they will be renewed as contract staff instead of full time employee.

To my surprise, he shared with me, with such a pay, we should just continue working but adopt a different mindset since the company is paying quite well and to keep our mental well being, we should never retire as well. He shared that our brain is already wired in a way for a good period of time while we are working, hitting a jam brake and retire will hasten the deteriorating of the brain because it will be like a taut rope suddenly being let loose.

So his advise is, take the money, contribute but do not work like how we used to work. Enjoy the work.
