I am of a contrary opinion, that spreading it thick is not the best option to take. It is better to spread it light. Spreading it light comes with a lot of advantages, like the fact that it will dry on time based on how light it is.

Another major fact is that spreading it light can help correct a mistake, which will only be visible if it is not thick. The thickness can cover up a mistake unlike the flexible way.

However, it is a matter of choice which way you want to go. I only advice you go light.
