Five Minute Freewrite: Slot Machine
It was a sunny day, Max and his friend Katie decided to cool off at the City shopping mall. They have seat-outs where people can relax and unwind the day, a cinema hall and a casino.
When Max and his friend arrived they went for ice cream which is good for the hot weather. Thereafter they started talking and telling stories of their past academic session and their expectations when they resume in a fortnight.
Later, Max suggested they play a little game with the slot machine to see if they can win a cent at least. At first Katie objected but when Max brought out the coins she reluctantly oblighed him.
Max played first and won nothing. It was the turn of Katie to try her luck. She did and it clicked. They won and Katie celebrated wildly. Then they decided to try again. This time Max took over and lost. He tried again and again and lost heavily.
Sensing that they may go home empty handed Katie took over and played with the slot machine. She was, but this time it was far less than what they had won before but big enough to take them home.
Katie refused to play again and told Max it's time to go otherwise they'll be broke and will rely on people's goodwill to raise they transportafre and like an obedient child Max agreed and both friends department the city shopping mall.
