Laura have recorded huge success with his maize farm for over a decade now. She headed the advice of her blossom friend Leticia to go for only improved variety when planting. Laura went to the research station and bought quality maize and planted. That year shes enjoyed a bountiful harvest and that has been the case since then.
This time around, Laura decided to diversify by trying out other plants. She settled for peanut. Most farmers within her area do not plant it. So she reckoned that it will be more profitable if she ventures into that area.
That year she also went for improved variety and planted half a hectre. When the peanuts germinated they looked amazing. But as time goes on their foliage changed and something like fleas started covering them.
Laura ran back to the research station for guidance. They gave her some pesticides to apply on the whole of the peanut farm. But by the time she got to the farm for the exercise, the damage was already huge as most of the peanut folliage had already been eaten up by the fleas.
She went ahead and applied the pesticide throughout whole peanut farm but it was already a case of too little too late.
