Five Minute Freewrite: Complete Failure
When the director of football of FC Dallas heard that Ryan was available in the market he tabled an official bid to Ryan's club for his services. At first, the bid was knocked back because they felt it was way too far below the asking price. The board gave the director a go ahead order to improve on the bid.
The director then improved on the first bid and tabled an improved offer which offer later became the club record offer. Ryan's services was acquired and he became the record club signing of FC Dallas.
On the day of his unveiling, fans gathered at the club's ultramodern stadium to watch Ryan's official presentation. It was a fully packed stadium.
Five games into the season Ryan was yet to score a goal. The fans were patient with him. Ten games, same thing and the first quarter of the season ended with Ryan scoring just a goal.
The second quarter came and Ryan scored three thus increasing his tally to four in all season. The fans started feeling that Ryan's acquisition has turned out to be a complete failure. Ryan was basically acquired to shore up the deficit in goals since they lost the league crown largely due to poor finishing of their strikers.
At the end of the season, FC Dallas came second, just like the previous season. The director of football then realized that the club may have made a mistake in acquiring Ryan because their main aim for his signing - scoring goals have proved to be a complete failure.
