A time to sow and a time to reap, that kept resounding in the innermost ears of Karen. He has prayed for massive yield this coming year. Consequently he went for improved seedlings to plant in his farm. The maize is believed to possess good qualities of any improved seedlings. Karen paid a massive fees for it.
He went ahead and hired tractors and other mowing devices to help till the ground and plant the maize. In a matter of weeks over two hecters of land was covered. He was happy with his decent effort.
Few weeks thereafter he applied fertilizer to enhance their growth. Everywhere was lush green. H was delighted. Soon the flowers appeared and it started showing signs of curbs.
Months passed and it was due for harvest. Karen was full of expectations. He expects nothing but abundant harvest.
He went and engaged labourers to help him do the harvest. Surprisingly, when they got to the field, appearance became deceptive. The yield was poor and the harvest was not in abundance.
Karen was speechless. He does not know where to start counting his losses. Is it from the money paid for the seedlings, or the hired machinery or even the labourers and other logistics? He felt sad and walked away. Should he try a second time or just quit farming? He kept turning these in his mind.bbh
