Real Talk: When You Marry A Demon

One of the guest speakers who spoke during the youth convention I attended last week is a relationship adviser and pastor who specialises in marriage. He has had a series of issues relating to marriage, and according to him, this particular one shocked him; he has never seen such. And as he narrated everything, I knew there are demons in disguise in the world who, if one is not careful, especially ladies, can tie the knot to them who outwardly portray themselves as an angel. This is why it is advisable to marry right and, most importantly, let God choose your partner.

As believers, we must marry someone of the same faith as us so that we can marry in God's way. The man listened to this woman in his office as she spoke. He asked her what was wrong, and she decided to practicalise it by spreading a white handkerchief on the table, and she started removing her tooth on it. He was shocked and even ran to the toilet to wash himself off because he couldn't stand it any longer. The woman finally opened up that her husband did that to her. He would always bang her head on the wall every time until her teeth began to loosen.

As I listened, I was shocked that things like this happen in real life, not the ones we watch in movies. This story is real, and it makes me afraid of who is who. It is important to know who we are getting into a relationship with because it is stupid not to know the man or woman you are marrying, but because of love, you close your eyes and mind from observing those little red flags that show up as a warning to flee.

I used to say that once a man even tries to raise his hand on me while we are courting, that is the end. Accepting his apology that it was a mistake will only complicate things if I don't do the right thing by leaving as soon as possible, because a man cannot tell me it was a mistake to raise his hands to beat me. Never, that will be the end.

She said on this day, they had this fight, and as she wanted to fight back, the man held her head and banged it so hard on the wall till she lost consciousness and was in a pool of blood. He left her lying lifelessly on the floor and left, never coming back again. It was one of the two children, a 5-year-old boy, who went outside to call for help and was able to take her to the hospital.

According to the man, the lady, in tears, said they warned her, but she didn't listen. Her parents were Reverends of a church, and so, she was afraid to go back home, but nursed those pains in her until they got to that extent. A young woman became old as a result of a wrong marriage she entered.

There are demons out there, and we must open our eyes even while we are praying because marriage is forever until death. It is so sad that many people, especially the ladies, let love blind them to see who they want to spend the rest of their lives with. It is not always easy to think one could just pick someone without knowing who they are, much less their spiritual life, before saying I do. Sometimes, marrying late is better than a bad marriage after a few years in it, and then you divorce.

I don't want to rush into any marriage that is not built on Christ's love, and no matter the pressure from family and friends, I will wait until it is the right time for God, which I believe He is working it out for me. I love weddings and I desire to get married soon, but it is important for me to wait and not rush so I can enjoy a long-lasting marriage, one I have desired to be the best marriage ever, with a lovely family to start with.

I can't imagine a lady ending up with a demon as a husband because the truth is, some individuals we see roaming around are not actually humans, they are sent from the pit of hell to frustrate some set of people, making their lives miserable and once their work is completed, they leave just like the lady's husband who didn't bother to look back to check his family, especially the kids.

Many times, it is foolishness that makes many people end up in bad marriages, where you see lots of divorces out there, making many single parents, and others who are unlucky dead in an abusive marriage. Foolishness is when you are warned and advised in the right way, but you decide to go your own way, thinking it is right, but the end is disastrous.

An adage says that what a wise elder sees from afar, while sitting down, a young person cannot see, but these days, we feel they are speaking from past experiences, and they are not in vogue anymore, but it will make sense later when you realise what they said was the truth. No matter what civilisation has become today, listening to a wise old man or woman will do one good than anything.
