Losing Track Of Time.

(edited)

I had a good laugh at myself yesterday evening. Imagine waking up from sleep and losing track of time. Honestly it was crazy. Lol.

It's been a total blackout for a couple of days now in the part of town where I live. This was rather unusual because and no one seem to know why it's so.

As a result, phone charging centers became a dead device saver. Lol. People could have their devices - phones, power banks,
electric torch and bulbs, and other charged for a fee.

I had my power bank charged on Friday at the office and was using it to power my phone. But by Sunday afternoon, it was dead. My phone too was almost dying off and I needed to get it charged.

Past 2:00PM (WAT), I went in search of a charging center. Being Sunday, the one close by didn't open, so I asked around and was directed to another one, two streets away.

I got there, dropped my phone, collected a tally and left. Before leaving, I asked their closing time and was told around 8pm.

Back home, I managed to complete the chores I had left off and then crashed in bed. I needed to because my was literally shutting down.

I slept, and waking up, I saw that it was still bright outside. The first thought that hit me was: "Wait, is it morning already?"

"My phone?" And then I remembered: it was still at the charging center.

Then I checked the time - past 6. 6am? I was like... how did I sleep this long without waking up? Oh no! I just hope my phone safe.

"Wait. I didn't shower, didn't even have dinner!" Gosh. "Was I that exhausted?"

Honestly, it was a moment of confusion. I just sat on the bed, thinking of what to do next. I calculated that since it's early morning, the shop would probably not be open, by that time so I just have to wait.

First thing first. So I said my prayers, got up and ran a hot bath to help keep me warm and also calm my nerves. Honestly, I was almost losing it. Hehehe.

While bathing, I noticed the sky was getting darker by the minute. "Another rainy morning, and Monday of all days," I thought. I even began to wonder how I was going to get by another rainy day.

And then it hit me. What if it's still evening? There's no way I would have slept for that long without waking up to either use the convenience or drink water. Not possible.

There's only one way to find out.

I literally ran out of the bathroom, got dressed, picked my keys, grabbed the tally for the shop and rushed out.

Then I saw people with torchlights and it dawned on me that it was still evening. "How did this idea of morning enter my head?" 🀣 🀣

As I walked to the shop, I couldn't help but laugh at myself.

Here's the surprising thing: through all the back and forth in my head, I was calm, didn’t panic. There was just this quiet sense of calm that enveloped me. And I think that's what helped me to think clearly.

Honestly, this is the first time I’ve ever experienced something like this. It may sound funny, but it’s not. I think it happened because of where my mind is right now. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. Maybe that’s why.

But then, this experience reminded me something I already knew, but hadn't given enough weight to: when things get overwhelming, calmness changes everything.

I experience this a lot, most time it happens when I am stressed out and have symptoms of malaria.
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Reading Ur story now reminded me how I woke up Sunday early Morning and got dressed for school....only to be reminded that it's Sunday.
