My #wednesdaywalk adventure, as inspired by @tattoodjay .
Well, it had to happen; the snow was bound to arrive. As far as precipitation in the area over the past several months, we received little to none. So when I read the forecast for last night/early this morning with respect to us receiving a few inches of snow accumulation, I didn't believe it. As fate wold have it, the meteorologists were right, and I was wrong!
We always get snow in this area, but typically not this early on. The weather had been cold the past two weeks, but I assumed it would warm up and if any rain did happen, it would be rain. No such luck.
Sure the roads were sloppy...everyone took a bit of extra time on the streets. Time always seems to slow down a bit after the first snowfall. Yet with all that said, the views were fantastic as I drove into work.
You may recall this area from a previous post earlier this year. I knew I had to stop by the old barn again to get winter's first grace documented on my #wednesdaywalk. Not only was the barn holding up strong, but so were the surrounding areas.
Evergreens covered in snow...cornfields long harvested covered in snow...even that long, tall, unruly grass was covered in snow.
As I meandered up down the old country road, the sights and smells were refreshing. Sure, I'm not the world's biggest fan of the white stuff, but there is a certain sensibility in the air once the first snowstorm passes through and leaves its wake. It's almost as if the universe wants to let you know that autumn has finally passed, and the cold death of the sun is on its fateful path yet again for us North Hemisphere folk.
Thank goodness I was at least there to photograph some of it!
That's it for this week's #wednesdaywalk. I hope everyone out in Hive had a good Wednesday too - until next week....
A beautiful walk and the photos look like coming from a fairy tale. From the snowy, cold and somewhat scary tales, because winter is always cold and scary in every consciousness, I believe. 😕
This barn is wonderful. Such a lovely building. But I'm glad I'm not there, instead looking at these photos from the distance of the computer in front of me, even though it's about to snow where I live too. 😥
thanks much - the first snowfall here has always been mystical for those more in tune with nature.
Getting ready for the solstice over here too ! I think we'll plan something special for that this year
Oh, I hope you share it here then. 😊 I have never attended such a celebration.

Beautiful photos! 🙏
many thanks! the snow is good for something, after all! lol
Beautiful photos! The snowy landscape almost feels dramatic -- I can only imagine how cold it could get there. Coming from the tropics and now living in the desert, snow is definitely not an experience we could get.
Well, to be honest, it's overrated, lol
It's not bad to have four seasons here, whatsoever, but after a few months of shoveling it, one truly appreciates the coming of spring :)
LOL yeah. I see some friends and relatives relate this experience on their social media and honestly, it's not something I guess I would like to live with. Once-in-a-while experience would be great though, just for the books. :D
