A Walk To Remember: A life of a Homeless

Hello, dear Hivers! Happy Wednesday!

A Little Kindness Can Make a Big Difference

While I’m on my way to work and walking along the Colon Street, I often see homeless people. And every time I see them, I can’t help but wonder how they manage to survive each day. How do they find food to eat? Where do they get clean water? Where do they sleep at night? And what happens to them when it rains heavily, especially during typhoon? How do they protect themselves from the cold weather at night when they have no roof over their heads and no bed to sleep?

These are just some of the questions that come to my mind whenever I see them along the streets. While most of us are busy preparing for work, going to school, or thinking about our daily responsibilities, there are people out there whose biggest struggle is simply finding something to eat and a safe place to sleep.

Sometimes, I give a little help whenever I can, especially to elderly people who are living on the streets. I know that what I can give to them may not be enough to change their lives completely, but I believe that even a small act of kindness can help them. Maybe a little amount of money can help them buy food for the day. Maybe a simple meal can ease their hunger, even just for a while. And perhaps a small gesture of kindness can remind them that there are still people who care about them.

I know that I cannot help everyone, and I do not have the super power to solve their problems. But I believe that if we all do what we can, no matter how small, we can make this world a little kinder and more compassionate. I always include the homeless in my prayers because I believe that even the simplest prayer can be powerful.

Sometimes, people who are struggling the most are the ones who need our prayers, compassion, and kindness the most. We may not be able to help everyone financially, but we can always pray for them and hope for better days in their lives. A simple prayer, when spoken with a sincere heart, can be a beautiful expression of love, faith, and hope.

Blessing in Disguise

There is one homeless family that I see almost every day. They usually sleep on the side of the street because they have nowhere else to go. One day, I was really surprised to discover that the couple had been hired as helpers at the carenderia (Eatery) where I usually eat lunch. They help carry soft drink supplies, sweep the area, and do other daily tasks.

Seeing this made me appreciate the owner of the carenderia (Eatery) even more. Instead of judging the couple because they are homeless, the owner gave them an opportunity to work and earn a living. Through this simple act of kindness, the couple can earn money to help them survive each day.

For me, this is such a beautiful example of compassion and humanity. Sometimes, people who are struggling do not need our judgment or pity; they need someone who is willing to give them a chance. The owner did not just offer them work but also gave them hope and an opportunity to provide for themselves.

Sometimes, the greatest help we can give someone is not money, but an opportunity to stand on their own feet. The owner of eatery is really blessing in disguise to the homeless family. Salute to the owner. May the Lord God always bless the owner.

We should never be too quick to judge people whose stories we do not know.

It is easy for us to look at someone living on the streets and say that they are lazy, that they do not want to work, or that they are responsible for their own situation. But have we ever stopped to ask ourselves what they have been through? Have we ever tried to understand the circumstances that brought them to where they are today?

Imagine wanting to work, wanting to change your situation, but people refuse to give you a chance because they assume you are a thief, unreliable, or incapable of doing something good. How painful must it be to want to improve your life but feel that the world has already judged you before you even have the opportunity to prove yourself? Just like my previous post about the interview that some interviewers reject applicants, they don’t give a chance to work because they are not very talkative during interviews. But being quiet doesn't mean someone is not competent or effective at work.

Of course, not every homeless person has the same story. But that is exactly why we should not make a judgement about them. We do not know their struggles, their experiences, or the battles they face every day.

I sincerely hope that our government will give more attention to the situation of homeless people, especially those who are elderly, vulnerable, and struggling to survive on the streets. The government should serve the people, not just personal interests. It is heartbreaking to see ordinary people struggling every day while corruption continues to be a serious concern.

I know that change will not happen overnight. But I still believe that a better community is possible when compassion is combined with action.

Let us continue to be kind. Let us help whenever we can, even in small ways, and let us hope for a society where nobody is left behind. We should be the light that guides people through the darkness of their current struggles.

Because sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can be the beginning of hope.

Thank you, dear Hivers, for taking the time to read. Until my next blog everyone!
