I just love the combination of going for a walk and taking pictures.
This weekend we stayed in a small town called Schelderode in Belgium to visit the beautiful city of Ghent (If you're interested, you can check out my blog from that visit).
After we have visited the city on Saturday I decided to go for a walk in the countryside on Sunday morning. Here is an impression of the walk I made.
It was quite early in the morning. I just finished my breakfast and my cup of coffee, so I took off for a walk. As you can see the sun wasn't up that long either. But it was going to be a nice and sunny day.
The meadows were covered with morning dew and thanks to the sun you get a slight mist over them which looks very nice.
It's nice to see the grass and other plants covered in tiny waterdrops.
Alongside the path I was walking I spotted a couple of huge fungi. Autumn is coming, so there will be more and more fungi popping up everywhere soon. But I don't see a lot of these large ones very often.
I've used my Obsidentify app to discover this is a Laetiporus sulphureus also known as a Sulphur Fungus.
The path went trough some farm land. The fields were completely empty, so I wonder where they left the cows.
A bit further on there was a farm house. In the backyard was this big old tree with a swing hanging from a branch.
The path took me towards a paved cycle path along the river Schelde. It was quite busy with other people that went for a walk, a jog or a ride.
I always try to pay attention to my surroundings so I can discover interesting things, which I did! I spotted a Kingfisher flying over the water to the other side of the river.
[DISCLAIMER] The following picture is not mine! I looked it up op Pixabay because I couldn't capture the kingfisher myself, but I did want to show how beautiful this bird is!!!
All other pictures in this post are made by me by the way. Like this one from some wild hop.
Hop is an important ingredient for beer, which I really like and I have never before seen it grow in the wild until now.
After a while I left the paved road for a small forest trail. You can slowly see that autumn is arriving soon. There are already some leaves on the ground. I could already smell the scent of dead leaves (which I really like).
The trail passed a pond where I spotted a lot of ducks and also a turtle. The turtle was also too far away from the shore to capture it with my smartphone camera. Although there is a native species of turtle in Belgium, it's also very rare. So this probably was an exotic species that had been released into nature by humans (this happens quite a lot).
I end this #wednesdaywalk with one last shot of my walk. I took this shot because I really liked the sun peaking through the tunnel of trees with all different colors!
I hope you liked my #wednesdaywalk
