Not on Wednesday, but on one of the two Christmas days, I decided to make a short walk in the park. With two days of family festivities ahead, it means a lot of time indoors, eating, and drinking. Very cozy, but it's nice to take a walk outside beforehand.
I was fortunate that the weather was lovely on the first Christmas day; dry and not too windy. After heavy rain, the unpaved paths in the forest can become quite muddy, but that wasn't the case.
A little further on, I noticed a hole in the path. At first, I thought it might be a mouse hole, but it seemed slightly too large for that.
I didn't see the resident of this hole.
The park is maintained by a forest ranger. Nowadays, they leave dead trees in the forest, as long as they don't pose a danger to visitors. These trees attract many animals; woodpeckers nest in them, and insects like termites appreciate these trees. It was amusing to see that someone had placed found feathers in the small holes in the tree.
If a tree eventually falls, they leave the remains as well. Then begins a long process of decomposition by insects.
At the moment, it's winter. In the summer, you can walk here under a thick layer of leafs, enjoying the shade, but in winter, most trees are completely bare.
The watery sun provided a bit of extra much-needed vitamin D which is really welcome this time of the year when the days are short and dark.
There are also some remarkable trees. The protrusions on this tree are likely due to infections. But despite the large bumps, this tree still seems very strong and healthy.
Thank you for coming with me on my #wednesdaywalk

After rain everything become muddy. I think dry weather is a strange weather but on the flipping side windy weather is also strange. So, where to go !!!!
I rather wait for the rain to stop and the puddles to dry up before I go for a walk in unpaved parks.
Your these lines are again reminding me stopping by woods in a snowy evening.

The tree with the feathers os my favorite, lol
Is that last one with the bumps a birch or an aspen?
I'm no tree expert, but I think it's a beech.
Oh, then it's the type that really spreads
