Trying something new allows you to develop, make exploits and be more aware of your immediate environment. This is one out of the numerous opportunities walking has provided me with apart from helping me to keep fit.

During my walk on Lagos-Badagry expressway today, I discovered life under the bridge. There is this bridge linking Ojo Local with Ado Odo Ota Local Government (Agbara Ogun State). I have been using this particular bridge since my relocation to this area years back but I have never thought people could be living under that bridge.

As I was walking towards Agbara this afternoon enjoying the radiance of the sun on my skin, I saw a man trying to pluck a papaya(pawpaw) then it made me look down. Looking down the bridge as I took my walk, I saw a whole lifestyle. Hello, people are living under the bridge and living their normal everyday life there.

They have their normal open roof covered corner where they bathe, there are food vendors who they buy food from to keep their body, spirit and soul together, places of worship like church, mosque and even a shrine all under the bridge. Lastly, some people have this cupboard made from wood where they keep their valuables locked with padlocks.

Another thing I noticed on today's walk is the way hawkers have decided to leave their post at the bus stop to sell in the holdup giving commuters the opportunity to buy things to snack on and drink while they are waiting.

Luckily, the hold-up was moving really fast as the Police and LASTMA were at the junction directing vehicles and of course few soldiers were dealing with drivers with two heads who might want to make use of one way. At the last lap of my walk, I noticed the way bike men were unusually parked at the bus stop waiting for commuters who might not want to sit in traffic.

Will I love to try this again another day? Yes of course I would want to check out more about the things that go on under that bridge.
