What We Saw on Our Walk at NUSTAR Cebu City, Philippines

Good day beloved Hive friends of this awesome community @wednesdaywalk. For today’s blog, I would like to take you to Cebu City, Philippines. The place of interest is NUSTAR (Resort and Casino). If I am not mistaken, I think only paying guests can enter the resort area. Unfortunately, taking pictures within the casino premises is prohibited but there were some restaurants adjacent to the casino, and so we walked around and took some pictures.

We didn’t come here to play because we don’t have money and this is not our lifestyle. We just wanted to look around as they also welcome non-paying guests in their casino. We were curious to see how it looks inside and experience its atmosphere.



We went there in the evening and went to the free parking area in the basement. From the basement, we went up to the casino area. I noticed these elevator doors with golden color and reflection. Upon arriving on the casino floor, we saw this signage of the different sections of the building.


This is the front entrance of the casino. Taxi drop off is in front of this. I also noticed a display of motorcycle and SUV on the right side of the entrance. They also have raffle draw and these were the prizes on display. There is also a screen showing the games they offer with the money prizes. We entered the casino area and there were security guards that checked us. We were told taking pictures was prohibited.



Inside, there are many slot machines, tables for card games, and some more tables for games that I didn’t know heheh. I saw many local people and foreign guests. There is also a cashier counter where you can exchange your cash with tokens. We walked around and just observed the games without understanding LoL. I also observed that there were many senior citizens enjoying the slot machines. Also, they offer free beverages such as bottled water, hot coffee and iced coffee. There is a lounge for you to sit; at this point, we stopped and drank our hot coffee with milk. I sneaked to take our pictures quickly. I suppose it was fine as long as the area and players weren’t seen (this was the specific instruction).

We finished drinking so we headed to the restaurant section. First stop was at this Chinese restaurant, Good Luck Hot Pot. I could see from the outside that they have attractive interiors inside with red as the dominating color. In front of this was a carpeted area. I got attracted to the color and pattern so I asked my partner to have my picture taken. On the left is an escalator; upstairs is strictly for VIP guests only.


Moving on, Mott 32 restaurant, it’s another Chinese restaurant. They offer signature dishes by Chef Wong for lunch and dinner as I’ve read from their poster.


This is the other side of the Chinese restaurant, Good Luck Hot Pot. They also display their award/plaque showing their recognition from different food critic organizations.


Next restaurant is Fina which offers Filipino dishes. I didn’t see anybody inside as it was already closed. The wall decors show banana leaves with soft yellow lights. My partner was walking towards the toilet at the back.

Then we moved on to the next, Kazuwa Prime, a Japanese restaurant. They are open 24 hours and they offer promo meals. A cherry blossom tree adorns the entrance with the traditional lanterns hanging above.


I also noticed this Italian restaurant, iL Primo, offering premium steaks and wines. There weren’t many customers in these restaurants; perhaps because it was already late in the evening.

A beautiful painting can be seen along the pathway but there was only one if I remember correctly. Tall mirrors could be seen on the sides too.

There was also a live band playing at Axis Bar. It was a local band but they sang a Spanish song at that moment. Some people also stood by the entrance of the bar and listened to the music they played. The bar is facing the casino area where some slot machines were placed.

Near the bar, a hallway leads to The Mall section. They only sell luxury brands here. This is also a wide area, each store occupies a big space with these expensive items that we can’t afford heheh… I just took sample pictures. Some maintenance staff were also working at this time.

I was glad to visit this place but we were not really keen on spending or eating at the restaurants. I just feel that there has to be a special occasion if we dine in more upscale restaurants; we are just careful with money spending these days. Anyway, walking and looking around and seeing how bettors lost money made me think that I would have regretted if I was one of them. Perhaps they wouldn't regret anymore because they can afford to lose such amount and perhaps that's part of their lifestyle already. At least, we were able to see how it looked like inside and felt its ambiance. It was already wee hours and we were getting sleepy and decided to head home.
