I went to Bilal Yarns on Satyana Road in Faisalabad yesterday on October 14, 2026, at 5:15 PM with my sister Faiza for crochet therapy. Entering the shop felt like stepping into a rainbow shop filled with color.
There were so many colors and shades that i could not decide where to look first. Faiza helped me in chosing colours. The smell of fresh wool and the softness everywhere felt very comforting and peaceful.I could not stop myself from taking pictures of every shade of yarn. Their light, dark, and bright colors were truly eye-captivating, and as a color lover, I loved them all.

My goal was to find my favorite bright colors for my new projects. I picked 6 colors: red, green, white, yellow, orange, and black. These 6 are my absolute favorites, and Faiza also loved the selection. Red feels bold and full of energy. Green feels fresh and calm. White is clean and pure. Yellow feels like sunshine and happiness. Orange is warm and bright. Black makes every other color pop beautifully.
I bought small bundles of each color, and holding them in my hands made me genuinely happy. When I returned to my hostel in Jinnah Colony, Faisalabad from my home in Chishtian, my heavy heart from the morning felt much lighter. In other words, yarn shopping is my best therapy.
I was excited to start something new with these colors. So let me share my new products with you all.
Today I made a small red wallet with a flower, and I am genuinely proud of my handmade creation. Returning from Chishtian to my Faisalabad hostel, I experienced emotional heaviness combined with persistent coughing for two days and fever measuring 100.2°F. I decided to distract myself by visiting the yarn shop located on Satyana Road.
I was unable to delay crocheting any longer, reason is that the anticipation was overwhelming. I selected red yarn primarily, red represents my most favorite color, conveying warmth and boldness simultaneously. My hands remained unusually slow due to physical weakness, but progressive stitch development gradually improved my relaxation and emotional condition.
The rectangular base appeared excessively simple upon completion and required additional embellishment. I fabricated a small white flower incorporating a red center, which I subsequently stitched onto the corner position. The floral part instantly transformed the overall appearance and vitality of the wallet. The combination of red and white presents a cute and elegant aesthetic.
I folded and securely sewed the lateral sides, completing my little wallet for practical usage. This compact wallet, small in dimensions, effectively accommodates coins, identification cards, and small crochet hooks. Observing the finished product resting on my green and white granny square mat creates genuine happiness, and creating handmade objects lightens my heart forgeting my homesickness and illness.

After completing the small red flowery wallet, I decided to create something bigger and more practical for my daily hostel requirements.I selected my favorite red yarn again , and this time incorporating a solid black border for enhanced definition.
The red shade appears warm and bold, the black outline provides neatness and structural strength to the overall design.I crocheted a simple long rectangle using tight, even stitches to maintain consistent tension throughout the fabrication process.
Red pouch functions effectively as a makeup pouch and a pencil pouch for my essential hostel belongings. My red pouch remains soft, completely handmade, and surprisingly spacious despite the compact rectangular appearance. Experiencing persistent cough and emotional heaviness, crocheting red pouch generated considerable calmness and genuine personal pride. Crocheting this pouch made me feel calm and proud. Pouch is sitting on my green granny square now, and I love my red pouch.

Last week I created a red rose, which involved quick assembly with layered petals curled together carefully. Holding the soft rose created immediate happiness, not like other natural flowers, this crocheted rose will never fade.

I made a granny square yesterday as i was soo excited after my yarn shopping that i couldn't wait for a day to start making something new and beautiful and the granny square is my favourite so far.
I used all my favourite colours from the yarn shop in one piece black in the center, orange, yellow, light blue, red, and green and white on the outside. Each round was a new colour and a new excitement.
I started granny square last day when I was feeling sick and missing home in the hostel. With every stitch, my mood got better. The square looks so vibrant and happy, like a rainbow.
I kept granny square on my bed and just stared at the granny square. The small square made my hostel room feel so warm and colourful.

These days, yarn crocheting has evolved beyond a simple hobby into acomponent of my personal well-being. Thats why crocheting has become my therapy, my comfort, and my small escape from overwhelming emotional heaviness.
I returned from my home in Chishtian to my hostel in Faisalabad a few days ag. I am experiencing considerable emotional heaviness. You can understand the sensation of leaving your parents, your warm room, and familiar surroundings to re-enter a hostel room containing merely four walls. I developed a persistent cough and elevated fever. I felt sick, low, and isolated despite consuming soup and appropriate medication,as my emotional heaviness remained unresolved.
Yesterday, on October 13, 2026, I decided to venture outside for some mental relief. I visited the local yarn shop in Faisalabad near my hostel accommodation. The moment I entered that shop, my entire perspective transformed completely. The entire shop was filled with yarn arranged from floor to ceiling, creating a vibrant visual display. The surrounding softness and distinctive smell of fresh wool generated an exceptionally peaceful atmosphere, and I remained there for an extended period simply observing the colors.
Crocheting is the best therapy for me these days. When I crochet, my mind stops overthinking. I don't think about home, I don't think about being sick, I don't think about hostel problems. I just count stitches. One, two, three. My hands are busy, my heart is calm.
It also gives me a sense of achievement. In hostel life, many days feel same. But when I finish a small wallet or a rose, I feel like I did something. I created something with my own hands. That small pride is very big for my mental health.
People say therapy is expensive, but for me, a bundle of yarn for 200 rupees is my therapy. Yarn is soft, it is colourful. it is warm, and it listens without judging. So these days, my hostel table is full of yarn, my hook is always in my bag, and my heart is lighter. I may still have cough, I may still miss home, but I have my yarn. And my yarn therapy is enough to keep me going.
