The evolution of technology has made life easy for us "no doubt" it has made the world a little smaller that it brings people from different parts of the world together. We don't have to travel to another country before we get to know someone from that country; in the digital world today, we build connections or relationships from the comfort of our homes.
Growing up, I've heard thousands of stories of how two people would meet on the online space and form a good connection, and then something good would be built, and before you know it, we've started hearing wedding bells as they ring. Some of these marriages have lasted for long though I'm not there with them to know everything that is happening. But what I do believe is that some of them are likely to last long and for eternity, while for others, the rain washes them away as it drops.
Still growing up, though, I didn't like building connections; if this question had been asked some years ago, I would have asked, "What is the essence of building a relationship online?" as I grew older, I understood that the world doesn't revolve around me and my comfort zone alone. I realized there is a whole world out there that I can experience in the online space.
When that realization came in like a flash, I decided to be open and connect with people despite the geographical distance involved; I was ready to get to know people more and understand them.
After that realization, I've been able to make genuine connections in the online space, with people I haven't met physically, but yet talking to them feels like we are living very close to each other. People I can share anything with and people who would tell me the right words I need to hear at every given point in time. I, on the other hand, reciprocate the same energy to make the relationship stronger and to keep it thriving.
Such relationships are sometimes hard to maintain because of the geographical distance that is involved, often people look at the distance and think "It can't work" That was me at first but then as time went by I've come to realize that it's takes time and effort to build relationships and some persons are likely to add patience to the list.
One factor that is needed in building digital relationships is communication. "Yeah," communication matters a lot, or you can say it is the bedrock of every relationship because, without communication, no relationship can function. I had this friend we met on the online space and started talking. At first, it felt strange to me, but then, as time went by, our friendship started becoming stronger. Even without seeing, I feel a certain type of way whenever we talk and how we share every moment.
This person has become more like a sister to me despite the fact that I haven't seen her physically. I tell her everything, and she does the same; we share in each other's joyous moments and sad moments. And none of this would have happened without communication. We communicate to know each other better, we communicate to create an understanding between ourselves.
I know the digital world can be dangerous as well, and that is the major reason one has to be very careful in forming digital relationships. That is why communication is very important; with communication, you can be able to detect or predict the intentions of the next person.
Thanks for reading ๐งก
When it comes to thriving in relationships, whether online or offline, communication is always one of the bedrock of such way. When people communicate freely and honestly, it creates that bond in relationships.
Yeah when genuine communication is in place, I believe every relationship is likely to thrive.
Yes, dear, you are ๐ฏ% right.
Thank you so much
You are always welcome
I have a friendship like this that has been going on for 16 years, the difference is that we have seen each other a few times, but it started online. Without a doubt, sincere friendships can be built like this.
Communication is very important, I have friends as well whom we haven't met and I have a friend whom I know through Hive who came for my wedding, some friends are like sisters to us and some are there just to pass time.
