The quest.

Hello, wonderful people. Firstly, I've missed this space a lot, and at this moment, I keep wondering what happened to my safe space because I tell people that Hive is my safe space. The only place I can talk about things and not feel any way.

So for the past three days, I haven't written anything on the platform, and that shows how busy I have been lately with work and studies. Most of the time, when I look at people who combine work and studies, I always tell them that they are the real geniuses because, in just a month of trying that, I have found myself falling behind on Hive, and I don't want that. But then what can I say, since it's something that would benefit me "so I ain't gonna complain". Enough about me, let's dive into the subject matter.

Gone are the days when you would hear older people complaining about their educational status. The reasons behind not getting the quality education that they've always needed. I had this aunt who would always tell stories about her childhood and how she got to where she is today. She was fortunate to go to primary and senior secondary school. When it came to the time for her to further her education at a higher institution, things started taking a different turn; maybe life wasn't fair to her, or it was just her father.

Her story and I quote: she grew up in a home filled with boys, not like she was the only female but she was the second female in the house aside from her big sister. Her father invented a new rule in the house that "none of his daughters will further their education into a higher institution," as it would be a waste of money to send a female to school when they are gonna end up in their husband's house. That was how this statement was invented "the woman's place is in the kitchen".

Rather, the husbands should be faced with the responsibilities of training their wives further in the university. That was the major reason why most of our mothers didn't have the opportunity to further their education.

Like I said, gone are the days; currently, we live in a world where education isn't biased anymore. A world where the child is faced with the choice of going to school or not but then in an African home you don't dare tell your parents you don't want to go to school, they will tell you "not in my house" when you grow older and own a house of your own then you can freely decide on what you want to do but as long as you live on the same roof with them "you must abide".

In conclusion: Everyone is allowed to pursue their education to the furthest they can, but then there is only one thing that is likely to be a limitation, and that is "finances"; that is the only limitation that one is likely to face while pursuing their education. So education is very important in today's world and I'm happy that the world is changing and it keeps affecting the way we think and view the world.

Thanks for reading 🧡

These days, I’ve seen others start saving ahead for genie kid’s education and it’s really a great step.
Even though we are all from African homes, it’s nice to see a change in the mindset of our elders as they have started to prioritise our education.
