My First attempt and last

The use of first aid was first taught in my senior secondary school. I can remember when our teachers would gather us all in the school hall and would show us different ways on how to use the first aid box when found in a situation of administering it to someone.

And not just that, they would bring out all the items inside the box and tell us their usage, so when something happened, we wouldn't find ourselves struggling with the particular item to use when found in a situation like that. And they went further into saying that the primary purpose of the first aid is to save lives. Hearing that statement above, I felt a little something inside of me that can't be described.

I felt like a mini doctor, if not fully though, because if I can save lives with using first aid, then tell me something that I can't do? And then fast forward to the point they said it can be used to avoid further harm "my!!" That was the most interesting part of the whole thing. So as the class was going, the teachers started pointing out volunteering that would put into practice what had been taught, "Well, did I raise my hand?" Of course, I mean, why not, after feeling like a mini doctor, I should raise my hand to be part of the volunteering to practice the lessons.

Well, I did a great with my voluntary duties that was performed though my teachers weren't impressed with the whole thing "I don't want to go further but I will" here is what happened, one of the teachers decided to cut himself with a sharp razor blade "I mean for what exactly" yeah for the purpose of practical and I was the chosen one to clean the wound and dress it.

At that moment, I could feel my heart beating faster than normal because what my eyes were seeing wasn't the practical I was expecting, but then I took that bold step of faith and moved closer to get the first aid box and put a little pressure into my speed to get to my patient.

When I got to the spot my patient was, I opened the first aid box slowly, like the speed had left me, and was thinking of the next action to take when I found myself throwing up, "Why!!" Now blame that on the blood I swear. That was the last time I ever had a thing to do with the thing called "first aid".

If someone had a medical emergency besides me, I think I'm going to run for help and call people who would help to stabilize the person before taking that person to the hospital, because if I'm the only one there, I think they will be carrying two people to the hospital.

Managing a bleeding "ahhh!" I think I will pass on that because I don't like the sight of blood, then the performing a CPR part I can actually try, though, but not promised. I know a little about first aid, and I can identify the items inside the box if asked to "applaud".

Thanks for reading 🧑

I understand your case, most people aren't cool with seeing blood. But you really took a bold step. Your school also did well by teaching you first aid properly, some us only know the definition and the items in the boxπŸ˜‚

I don't think anyone likes blood, unless they are a vampire. Joke's aside, you, providing first aid to another, is very commendable.

Vampire now that is funny though 🀣 πŸ˜‚

But then you are right, I'm not a vampire, so I shouldn't like the sight of blood.

You did well honestly, because it’s not easy to face blood especially for the first time. The fact that you even tried shows courage, and knowing the basics of first aid is already a big plus.
