I just remembered those moments when I was also among the people who were struggling to get their social media accounts monetized. I logged into Facebook one morning and saw a post where a lady was talking about how to change your personal Facebook account to a Facebook page to get it monetized. Then, when she mentioned the earning part, "it blew my mind." At this moment, I'd already started thinking of the plots of land I wanted to get, that imaginary house in my head that I wanted to build.
How I followed every procedure mentioned in that video and turned my friends into followers. "Wow, I succeeded." I felt a little bit of relief because I felt like I was a few steps away from becoming that millionaire I've always wanted to be. Then, after setting up everything, I don't know what happened next. "Still trying to remember," maybe I just wasn't a content person.
Content creation came into existence when we least expected, no one knew back then that social media could be monetized till a few years ago, I know you won't argue with me that currently, a lot of people make cool money from content creating, that is the major reason content creators come up with different ideas every day on how to make cool money. Every day you see people on the internet doing all sorts of things, some posting their daily lives on the internet just for the money and the viewers would be complaining "This isn't proper" but the content creators the other hand don't care, all they are thinking of "is the money" so your opinions about them doesn't matter or even hurt them a bit.
People also use social media as an avenue to perform fraudulent activities just to make money; they say the search for money makes people engage in different things, both the bad and "no doubt". I'm not gonna say monetizing social media is the worst thing that ever happened to humanity. "Nope," we all know how the world works, how there are two sides to the coin.
No matter how good a thing is, there is always the bad side. "Yeah," that is how the world works. But then the monetization of social media has impacted so many lives, making it possible for content creators to earn a living without having a 9-5 job like we do. They stay from the comfort of their home "though uncomfortable" sometimes to put things in place.
What needs to be done is for the government to implement a law where content creators don't have to be distributing fake news thereby misleading people because I know people easily react to things that aren't true. I know everyone would agree with me that certain content that we find in the online space isn't pleasing to the eyes; sometimes I just sigh and ask, "Why all these?" some of the lifestyle content creators portray on the internet aren't always true.
I think content creators should learn to be original with their content and stop spreading fake news on the internet, thereby misleading people. Thanks to the monetization of social media has made certain people who they are today without having to work physically like others do.
Thanks for reading π§‘
Setting up seems to be the easiest, the hard part for most people is the content to post, I guess you realize you can't post what others are posting and to direct the traffic to your blog, you have to act saucy lol
Yeah, acting saucy π€£ π is the only solution to making it online, or else just be among the viewers and fan base.
Some of these content creators post irrelevant stuff and because that is what many people want to watch, they allow them while also making their money alongside. Posting fake news shouldnβt be at all and there should be a measure taken on anyone who does such things.
People don't actually care if the news is fake. They only care about the potential wealth that awaits them.
ππI can imagine this. I can't even count the amount of online money scams I'd fallen into. But that was when I was naive. I really concur with your thoughts on making content creators maintaining originality. However, just like you've rightly mentioned, some people on this media spaces are there to give value while others are there to make money regardless of who they harm or people's opinions.
The best thing is for the audiences to know what type of content to consume and engage in. Because while creators credibility can't be ascertain, one can choose how they let contents affect them.
You've fallen into scams, sorry about that, though, but then 5hose scams opened your eyes to see the true colors of the online space.
How did you recover from these scams?
So, back when I was in Uni, I think 100 level or so. My friend told me about this platform where you get your money doubled. She'd sent 5 thousand naira and gotten 10 thousand. So, I collected money from everything, telling them I'll double their money π
I sent 15 thousand naira in total and that was the end of it. I never got anything back.
Safe to say I learnt a great deal about these things after that day.

People post whatever comes into their mind as long as the first time the did, people indulge them. You see them go ahead to post rubbish again
Yeah, I don't know if they can be regulated, though.
Monetizing social media has helped most people out of poverty, people make cool cash from social media and that makes us independent without expecting government jobs again, I can say yes that monetizing social has done more good but most people are using it in a way to defraud others which is very bad.
"know people easily react to things that aren't true"
This is what baffles me the most, why is it that useless content gets millions of likes and comments while instructive content are disregard ?
