If someone were to be ordained as the best fit for a history teacher I think it should have been my mother because this woman knows a lot of history. I can remember often when I come back from school being all tired and looking like someone whose strength had been drained out. Walking like a statue slowing going into the house after greeting her. The next words I would hear "drop your bag and come help me in the kitchen" those are the words I don't like hearing.
What happened to coming back home from school and seeing food on the table waiting for you like the queen you are because "I am queen" with my face all swollen due to the frowning I would still sluggishly walk into the kitchen and assist her. You can say those are my favorite moments because there is no dull moment with my mum in the kitchen. At those moments mum would tell me so much history that I would imagine myself as being part of the history.
I haven't been privileged enough to travel to see certain amazing historical events in my nation but then I'm glad I have someone who brings it to my home and that is my mother. Hearing those historical happenings makes me feel like I've traveled to that part of the world and have seen the statue of those heroes who made our nation what it is today.

Even without travelling to those parts of the world, I was fortunate enough to have seen one that is in my state of origin "Bayelsa State" when I got admission into the higher institution, walking round the premises for sightseeing with my friends I got to see the statue of the man who made it possible for that institution to be in existence.
Often I hear people talk about him a lot, the good deed he did, and how he changed the lives of many but then there is always something. No matter how good someone happens to be there will always be those people who see the bad in them. One of the experiences I cherish the most was when my friends and I visited the place where he was buried.
In conclusion: if a man had done something good or bad his name should be written in the same manner. Just be like "ojukwu" back in primary when we will singing this song, those from my part of the world know it "ojukwu wanted to separate Nigeria but Gowon says Nigeria must one, we are fighting together with gowon to make Nigeria one" despite the other person's intention was to separate the nation "which he had his reasons" being that the easterners were being killed so he wanted to separate the nation where the four cardinal points to be a nation on their own. That was his major plan but then death took him away that he couldn't fulfill that part.
When you visit "owerri Imo state" his statue is there, he is being celebrated like the hero that he is. People do things for the betterment of their people while others may see it from their perspective thereby making it look bad. Our heroes should be celebrated and their names should remain as they are because in one way or another they've contributed to making the nation what it is today.
Thanks for reading 🧡
Exactly.
Every hero is just a human. Most of them had good intentions but had no choice but to make tough decisions along the line for the betterment of their people.
Sending Ecency love your way, thanks for using Ecency.

Heroes should be recognised and celebrated for what they had done. And yes, we could find flaws in them.
