Should Parents Edit Their Babies' Genes?

We've come to see lots of parents out there who seem to be unpleasant with one of the features of their children or the other, and these has lead to them looking at other people's children and wishing theirs is like that, envying others peoples children intelligence, facial features or genetic aspects like illness, blood group, genotype and the likes. With all of these, would it be okay if parents have the ability to change or edit their babies' features, were they still festus to fit their own preference? Or should they just leave it to fate to take its course? Find out my own take on the subject matter below.

To start with, it's worth knowing that I understand why some parents might want to edit or make amends in their kids' genes where they're still young, so they can edit such a child of theirs to become the perfect baby. You can imagine giving birth to a child, but as they grow, you realize they've some illness, such as Down syndrome, a hole in their heart, amongst many others, to name but a few. It'll be devastating to start running around looking for how to treat such child and going through mental health uncertainty of not knowing if the child will survive after all your physical, mental and financial struggles on them, and when there's a way to easily avoid such , no wonder many parents and Intending ones will jump on it.

However, despite how promising and assuring that seems, won't it seem as though we are playing the role of God in the lives of these children by trying to edit all of their features so they can become our perfect baby that meets all of our wonderful personal desires in our baby? To be honest, that's exactly what it seems like, and as humans we ought to let fate take it for granted, rather than trying to play God in the lives of our unbody children. But if we do that, won't it seem like an act of foolishness, knowing fully well that God is the one who gave humans wisdom to reach such a milestone in aspects of medical innovation?

The truth is that, the last time I came across these topics, I was of the opinion that person should let fate take it course, but it seems I've learnt beyond that time and this time around I'll be going for a different response, not because I just want my response to be different but because of what I've learnt and the wiser I've become. Parents who have given birth to a child with one form of defect all the other wound never stand with allowing fate take it course, they'll definitely want to avoid such situations, and for that reason, they'll prefer to edit their child every feature festus, so avoid going through same trauma again.

And that's exactly my stands too, we should allow anyone who wants to edit their child features to go ahead with it, in as much as the fact that the technology to do that is available, we don't know what some parents have been through and we won't want to because we've had luck in giving birth to healthy baby, then make it a must for others who ain't so lucky to follow our opinion. Besides, God himself gave humans wisdom to discover such features, which means he's fine with it. And we can argue that if you say editing one's baby gene is playing God, then we can say so for blood transfusion, CS, any form of operation, and the likes.
