Contentment: A Blessing or a Barrier to Growth?

In the event that everyone in the world were contented with what they've, the world would obviously become a better place, because in such a world, humans wouldn't have an atom of greed, which is mostly the leading cause of all human misunderstanding and conflict that turns to war between two people or nations. However, when this happens, how fast will innovation in aspects of technology progress? Would humans have the time to chase a better life, or would they be too comfortable with what they've to the point where they won't crave more progress technologically?

In my opinion, everyone wants a peaceful world, and one with content individuals is what will bring that to reality, making our world a safe haven where we can go about our daily activities without the fear of being cheated or outsmarted by someone who's looking out for themselves or their loved ones over other people's needs. Despite how heartwarming this world seems to the heart, we can't help but come to the realization that this will bring about slow progress to the human taste for technological innovations that bring about ease, comfort, and the like to human ways of doing literally almost everything.

Imagine humans have been contented right from the beginning; we wouldn't have arrived at this stage we are in, in my opinion, because humans won't crave the means to create or embrace research that will make them create mind-blowing devices that'll enhance jobs and service delivery. That means humans won't have made a cart, not to talk of cars, trains, or planes that we now travel with comfortably nowadays. Why? Because we're too much at ease and comfortable with what we have and where we are.

This, in my opinion, is one of the dangers of being too comfortable or at ease. Yes, I know everyone wants peace and comfort, and that includes me; however, too much of it can deprive one of the drive to chase new dreams or seek new things. But then we must also understand that the speed at which innovation is going in our world today is also dangerous, because greed and lack of contentment are also dangerous. Why? Because many of the weapons we have today are a result of nations trying to defend themselves or trying to make better weapons that'll make them better than other nations, and these have gone on to lead to insecurities within the world, with armed robbers, bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, terrorists, and the like going all in with these weapons to make life miserable for the common people.

While I myself felt somehow saying this, I must still say that growth needs a touch of greed and taste for more to come to reality; if not, individuals and nations might remain in a spot because they're too comfortable and content with what they've already got.
