Confidence Beyond Experience: Can You Be Bold as a Beginner?

A lot of people have the belief that one can't be confident in doing something because they've no experience with that particular thing, but is that notion correct? In some individuals and how they think, I must say that it's indeed truly difficult to be confident when they don't have experience about something, but it's worth knowing that that isn't always the case because among a certain set of people, they can do something boldly, and it'll seem as though they've had years of experience, not knowing that they don't even have any. I'm sure you mind being left wondering how that's possible. Well, that's where the various types of confidence come into the picture, and below I'll be enlightening you about them.

One thing we must all understand is that although it's true that confidence can be bred through experience gained, you must still understand that isn't the only source of confidence. Talking about some of the types of confidence I know, there's borrowed confidence, which is bred as a result of someone else's trust in you; basically, you gain confidence from such a person's belief in you by doing what they want you to do till your own grows. The second one is preparation-based confidence, which is influenced by your commitment to learning, asking questions, and observing how things are done. Thirdly, there is growth mindset confidence, which is more broad because you see everything that comes your way as a test, learning opportunities that will bring about growth. Lastly, there is experience-based confidence that comes from years of doing the same thing till you're an expert in it.

From the above-listed types of confidence, we can all see clearly that experience isn't the only way one can build confidence and would agree that it's completely normal to not have experience about something you're doing newly and still be confident. Take for instance someone who has a positive mindset and growth-based confidence won't be moved by their inexperience but would instead face the new situation head-on, knowing fully well they'll sail through. That confidence they've had has helped them overcome different challenges that could have put them off and made them give up.

Borrowed confidence is another obvious way one can do things with confidence even when they've not done it before. Take for instance someone who sees potential in you and because of that decides to entrust a project to you, despite the fact that you've not done such a job before. With the right mindset you can borrow confidence from the person's belief to face whatsoever it is you've been entrusted with. In such an individual mind, they'll understand that although they're new, for someone to have seen something in them, it means they're capable, and they'll use that person's belief in them to wear off their own fear and doubt.

So as you can see, it's very possible to be confident even though you're a novice; all you need is the right mindset. With that, you can do literally anything. Your positive mindset would be the fuel pushing your every move.
