STRANDED BUT NOT STARTING FROM SCRATCH

Imagine being in a land one had never been to, no money, and that's a bad dream.
No familiar faces.
No local connections.
No savings.
No support system.

This scenario could take months or years to get over for most people.
After mulling it over, though, I realized that a person as much in the know with Web3 probably isn't as helpless as they seem.

Indeed, one of the main benefits of Web3 is the fact that your value does not rely on a physical address.
Your skills, reputation, network and digital assets can be carried with you.
That changes everything.
Suppose the next morning, you find yourself in an unknown country. No one knows you, no money and no immediate assistance.

The first couple days would be very hard. The need for shelter, food and knowledge of the environment would take precedence.
Once the initial shock subsided, anyone with a stake in Web3 would be armed with something of value.

A digital identity.

From Hive to content creation, community management, blogging, graphic design, moderation, coding, marketing, and blockchain knowledge, there are numerous skills that a Web3 user can use, and they can open up opportunities, no matter where physically located.

For instance, a Hive user will already know how to make content, interact in communities, build relationship and add value online.
Those skills are not constrained to the spatial.
Where there is Internet there is earning.

It's a great benefit.

I think folks don't realize the importance of their reputation that they create online.
A person who has been an active participant for years in communities is not beginning at ground zero.

They have connections.
They have credibility.
They have folks who acknowledge their work.
They can create opportunities quicker than building a complete business from scratch, but they might not show up with food on the table right away.
I also think that the versatility of being a Web3 user could be a reason for relatively quick recovery.

The blockchain space is a dynamic one.

New platforms emerge.
New tools appear.
New opportunities develop.
If you've been around for a while or so, you've already figured out how to deal with uncertainty.

Then when you find yourself in an unfamiliar place you find you have flexibility as one of your best assets.
I believe that personally, stability would not occur instantaneously.
In reality, it may take a few months for someone to get established and have a decent income.
But they would become a functioning member of that society much sooner, however.

Writings, creations, communities, and learning new skills or participating in decentralized economies are all avenues to earning.

That flexibility matters.
If things went wrong several years ago, it could have been a case of having to rely exclusively on local opportunities.
The internet has changed that today.
And Web3 has taken it one step further.

No longer constrained by the people around you, your opportunities are limitless.

They may be from all over the world.
But there would be problems as well.
Language barriers.
Cultural differences.
Legal requirements.
Housing.
Transportation.

All of these will take time and effort to do.
Unlike a person that makes a living through their physical appearance, a person involved in Web3 carries a portion of their economic worth with them.

It is a value that is portable.
This value applies to the entire globe.
And that value can serve as the basis for rebuilding.
If I were suddenly struck down in some place I didn't know tomorrow without any money or assistance, then I would not be confident because of what I have.

I would be sure because of my knowledge.
The connections that I formed.
The communities that I have helped.
And the skills I have acquired in the digital world.

It does not mean that if someone gets stuck physically, he/she is stuck economically, in today's world.
And this could be one of its biggest advantages in the Web3 era.
