So physical books and I used to be best friends back then in school , I can still remember how I will sit on my bed or at the reading table, flipping through pages till my eyes started begging for rest, but now? Hmm… things have changed o, as in these days, the only time I touch a physical book is when I have no choice, like during exams, so I think the last time I actually carried one to read was around April, during my last semester exams, and to be honest, I didn’t do it because I suddenly missed reading, nah... it was because I had to, I had five courses to study for, and I knew that if I didn’t buckle down, e go be me and carryover wahala.
So then i gathered my books, highlighted notes, and read like someone possessed. It wasn’t one of those peaceful or fun reads, it was pure read to pass energy, i was more focused on remembering key points, solving past questions, and trying to keep my brain from exploding, you know that kind of reading where you sip water, close your eyes and mutter, God abeg, make this thing enter my head. ... So yeah, that was me.
Anyway, I survived it, but since then, I don’t think I have opened a physical book since that April, I can not even lie, Life has been happening so fast and I have been dealing with real life responsibilities, and when I get tired, me I just scroll through my phone or watch something light to calm my head, you see carrying a physical book to read for pleasure has not crossed my mind lately, if it was before Omo , I used to buy a lot of books , especially when I find the title thrilling.
Now, if we are talking about ebooks or reading online, that one I can manage, it is easier, you can read anywhere , even while lying down, see, I actually have an ebook that I have been meaning to read for a while now, but time no dey, I keep saying I will read it soon, but that soon is beginning to look like never, maybe one of these quiet nights I will finally sit down and go through a few chapters who knows?
To be honest, I think the next time I will really sit with a physical book again will be when I go back to school to continue my study, because in school, you just have to read , there is just something about that environment that forces you to study , whether you like books or not, you can not be just be chilling while everyone around you is preparing for tests and assignments or exam.
But outside of school, Ehn.., reading a physical book requires a whole level of calm that I don’t currently have and you know when your mind is just full of plenty thoughts, bills, plans, the kids, what to cook, what is next , it is hard to just sit and focus on one page, so yeah, maybe one day when I am more settled and things are less chaotic, I will go back to reading physical books just for the fun of it.
But for now, let us just say my romance with physical books is on break, We are not fighting, we just need space, lol...
See, if it is like ebooks, blog posts, or some random articles online, then yes,I would always come across those ones easily, but carrying a physical book again omo, maybe when school calls me back again, that is when our love story will continue.

I can relate to reading to pass. I wrote my final exams in July and I read as if it would cost me my life. It was funny, hectic and very tiring. I don't enjoy reading that much not to talk of reading academic books. I even barely read e-books, I only read when it is a post or story online.
I understand this so much, now for me , it's just stuff I get to see online when I am scrolling the internet or hive here.
We are on the same boat...it's is so difficult for me to read physical book nowadays except these marriage books wen I want to check one tactics..lol
Ebooks is more handy in this digital world u know .lol

Serious, technology has taken the physical books away from us. Thanks for sharing
It has in a way, but there are still people who read
My dear, I'm very poor in reading physical books now. I have one now on my table that I have been struggling to ready.
I understand, it's the time to just sit with the books that is the matter. You can start reading two chapters every two days

I can totally relate to this. These days, picking up a physical book feels like a whole project 😅. Ebooks and online reads are just more convenient. Hopefully, when things calm down, the love for physical books will return.
Hopefully Wen one head is in order and not in many places at once. The love can return maybe?
