So a friend got a call from someone who said they were from her bank, that she was supposed to get a loan of 2 million naira but there was a problem, they told her she was currently owing 100k and that she was supposed to pay it before she could get the loan.

So she told them she didn't have the money at that moment, they now told her there was a way they could help her do it and that she should send them the money she had, they would help her process everything.
Seriously I don't know if it was juju or jazz they used for her because how do you explain what happened next? That is how she sent all the 60k in her account to these people, she believed they were actually going to help her get the loan.
It was after she had already sent the money that she came back to her senses and realized what she had done. By then the money was gone, there was nothing she could do at that moment, so my friend cried for a long time because truthfully 60k is not small money especially when that is all you have in your account.
I felt bad for her because imagine having money in your account and thinking something is about to happen to you, only for you to end up losing the little you have, she was expecting to receive 2 million naira, Instead she lost the 60k she already had, that is just the part of the whole story.
As for whether she was able to recover the money from what I know the money was already, nah... she didn't get it back and I can't say for sure if she later reported the incident to the bank or if anything was done about it, the experience was already a painful one for her.
This incident taught me that scammers can be very convincing, they know how to talk to people and make them believe that what they are offering is real, sometimes when money is involved especially when someone is in need it becomes easy to believe anything that sounds like an opportunity.
Imagine someone who has been struggling financially suddenly hearing that they can get a loan of 2 million naira, because the person may become excited and start thinking about all the things the money could help them achieve, that is exactly why people need to be careful.
For me if someone calls me claiming to be from my bank and starts asking me to send money somewhere before I can receive a loan I will rather go to the bank myself, make enquiries, I would rather miss an opportunity than lose the money I have, banks also advise customers to verify calls through official channels instead of sending money or sharing confidential details.
Honestly scammers are getting smarter, we need to be more careful, not every opportunity that sounds good is real, not everybody who calls you with good news has good intentions.
Sometimes the best thing to do is pause think and verify before taking any action, because at the end of the day nobody will feel the pain of losing your money than you will, the fact that someone promised you millions does not mean you should risk the little you already have.

That is a very serious one concerning scamming anyone because the banks has continued to warn customers not to accept any call from anyone pretending to be their staff.
Secondly, the banks has continued to warn customers not to click any link sent to them, which the banks can never do.
Thirdly, if she ever applied for any loan, the bank can never call her ti send any money for assistance to help her process anything concerning the loan. All loan matters are done physically.
This people juju must be s very strong one to must have affected her through just picking their call.
We all must be at alert šØ
Thanks for sharing šš
She's not the only one who has been scammed through calls before . Seriously one has to be very careful
That is it sis. We must always be at alert šØ
She shouldn't have accepted help from those people, that's where she first messed up , except it was juju just like you said.
Even banks now will tell you they will not call you to make payment anywhere, lesson learnt for her.
She has learnt her lesson really
I'm so sorry for your friend, losing such amount of money at a time like this is not funny at all.
And like you said, scammers can be very convincing and can be very smart. I've had experiences too, and I'm sure I won't fall prey next time.
Thanks for sharing.
