Hello Everyone, Happy Easter and Welcome to a new week.
To answer this this question from the Hive learners Table, you will think it simple but when you really sit down and think about it, it is not as easy as just saying wether yes or no,Because on one hand, everybody wants to feel safe, Nobody wants to be looking over their shoulder all the time or worrying about what might happen next, Safety is something we all want, no matter who you are, But now imagine this… you wake up every day and you know that someone, somewhere, is watching everything you do, Not just the big things, but the small ones too, Who you call, what you say, where you go, what you eat, even the things you whisper when you think nobody is listening, That kind of life no be small thing.

For me, I don’t think I can give up my privacy completely like that, Because privacy is not just about hiding something bad, It is about having your own space to just be yourself, There are some thoughts you want to keep to yourself, some conversations that are just between you and someone you trust. If all of that is being monitored, it starts to feel like you are not even living your own life again, Yes, security is important, very very important, In a country where things can be unpredictable sometimes, the idea of having a system that can prevent danger before it even happens sounds very attractive, You will feel protected, like someone is always looking out for you, and honestly, that peace of mind can be sweet.
But then again, at what cost?
Because the same system that is protecting you can also control you, That’s where the problem starts. If the government has access to everything about you, what stops them from using that information in ways that might not favor you? Today it might be for safety, tomorrow it might be for something else entirely, and let’s be real, humans are not perfect, Systems are not perfect, Power can change people. So giving that level of access to anyone, no matter how good their intentions are, is something that should be thought about very carefully.
Another thing is freedom,Privacy and freedom are somehow connected,When you know you are being watched all the time, you start behaving differently. You might not speak your mind freely again. you might start holding back your opinions, your thoughts, even your personality, slowly, you are not even being your real self anymore.
And that one is dangerous in its own way.
I feel like there should be a balance, Yes, security measures are needed, Yes, systems should be in place to protect people, but it should not get to a point where your entire life is an open book to the government with no limits, there should be boundaries, there should be rules, there should be respect for personal space, even in the name of safety, because at the end of the day, what is the point of being “safe” if you don’t even feel like yourself anymore?
So for me, I would not trade my full privacy for security like that, I would rather have a system that protects me but still respects my space as a human being, Safety is important, but so is freedom, and I don’t think one should completely replace the other.
