Hold Up In Traffic.

To be hold up in a traffic is a terrible thing. I had an experience some years ago when I traveled to Ondo all the way from Lagos.

It happened that I have a program to attend at Ondo by 5:00pm on that fateful day, so I set out as early as 9:00am to the motor park in order to meet up with the first bus traveling to Ondo.

Fortunately, I met the first bus but still loading, and we waited for almost two hours before the vehicle was full and I was very happy, because I thought I will arrive at Ondo very early.

Eventually, we took off by 12:00pm and the journey was supposed to last for three (3) hours, for as many that are from Nigeria and familiar with the road from Lagos to Ondo they will realized that sometimes ago certain part of the road was under construction.

So, as we got to where the construction was going on, the road was diverted to the other lane and this makes it very difficult for vehicles to move at the normal pace. But, the worse eventually happened when we are about to reach Ore in Ondo state, we discovered that the vehicles aren't moving again due to the traffic jam caused by a long vehicle conveying iron rod, we are on a spot for three hours and the sun was scorching that I had to drank two bottles of cold water that I purchased in the hold up from some boys selling different things on the high way.

At some point I off my shirt because of the heat, by then it's already some minutes after five (5:15pm) and we are yet to reach Ore, all the passengers came down from the bus including myself, some started purchasing different things on the high way, but as for me I want to know what really caused the traffic jam, so I trekked several miles it's then I realized that it was the long vehicle that caused the traffic jam.

At the end of the day, our bus managed to leave the hold up and passed through another route that link to Ondo road, that was how we got out of the hold up and we arrived Ondo around some minutes after six (6:20pm), at the end I missed the program.
