I think change in recent times has really affected our school systems from what it use to be in the years before now. I mean the system of grading students are not what it was , and this has caused lots of set backs in the school systems.

This topic made me remember my days in primary and secondary schools 🏫 when pupils and students are properly graded , especially with not just scores from each subjects but by class positions which made many to always work hard 😓 to be among the top first fives. Then your report card will show your position , from 1st to 5th, or 5th to 10th. These were days of competition and hard work as students keep struggling to beat each other at the end of every term.

I could also remember how many students can not wait for the final days of results announcements before the holiday starts, snd how many will cry and carry tears on their faces, showing how they did not do well, meaning lashing from parents. Those days where so motivating to students.

But suddenly, as the years went by, the school 🏫 system started changing and went into a system of grading students by percentage where scores and positions do not matter again. A system that took away the competitiveness among students and made many unserious in their studies. I see this change as one that resulted to why schools lost something we can not see, and students feeling more relaxed without tension since everyone gets a percentage , not even knowing where they stand.

The education grading system is already bad especially for those in the primary and secondary levels, since the university level still have a bit of control over grading by still classifying students with upper class and lower class. The A1, B2 system is still pushing many students to work harder if they must align themselves with better jobs when they are out of the university.

Education becoming just “Pass Or Fail” will lead to a worse system grading because many students will loose the motivation to fight for that best grade they know can help them through life. “Pass Or Fail appears to be classless. I mean it sounds like ordinary and normal grade that has no backing. Meaning, you either pass of fail instead of the grading that differentiates an upper class student 👩‍🎓 and lower class students, where the lower still feels he or she has something to hold on to.

The struggle students are going through in this recent times is truly devastating. Many has the fear 😨 that even after the years they go through studying, they will come out and still ends up without jobs for months and others years. And the fear keeps increasing as they see many who finished many years ahead of them still searching for job. So the “Pass Or Fail” grading system will leave a toil on many who has spent years studying 📚.

The motivating factor of many students today is graduating and having something to show for the labor which is the certificate you obtain from your years of going to the university. Everyone as a student 👨‍🎓 hopes to graduate with either A1, B2, or the upper class and lower class, which can help them secure a job even if not immediately after graduation. So things should be left the way they are already and not complicated in any way to save students from demotivation. The most important thing at this phase we have found ourselves is the government creating opportunities to help push the labor market for availability of jobs because without this, the education system will continue to loose its values soon enough.

You're right about this ma'am.
Even with good grades and all after graduation there's still the fear of securing a good and well paid job. The educational system ain't encouraging in any way and the government as well ain't helping matters...
We can only hope things get Better.

Thanks a lot for sharing.
