Apart from the current situation concerning inflation that have made things to become expensive around the world 🌍, knowing how to do some certain skills by ourselves around the house is truly something that have been happening for ages because its one big way to save money πŸ’°.

I can remember seeing my dad while I was still growing up always taking out his shoes πŸ‘ž every Saturday to tend to them one by one. He will thoroughly clean his shoes and polish them readily for the new week with different colors of polish according to the colors of the shoes and sandals 🩴.

And even now that things have become so expensive in our time, helping out ourselves with certain skills has become something mandating, especially the little skills we can maneuver to save cost πŸ’².

Carpentry And Tailoring:

I will start by telling you how I took interest in tailoring 🧡 and doing amendments by myself when I have little stitches 🧡 to do on my clothing. Growing up my mother had this manual hand sewing machine she uses to make clothes for us. And because she is not a professional tailor called fashion designer, she will usually take her church clothes and ours to her fashion designer to make because it involves styling and designing . And this she does too during festivals like Christmas or traditional weddings so they can come out clean and well tailored. But our casual home clothes are made by my mother and when we have clothes that tore, my mother simply will amend them.

So, right now I amend my clothes by myself without giving them to a tailor. But because am not a professional designer, I still takes my outing outfits to my designer. And not just amending my clothes, I also do help my family with little amendments by doing little stitches and fixing failing out buttons. Having a skill like this has helped me save cost πŸ’² and time because I don’t need to give it to anyone to amend nor will I spend time looking for anyone.

On carpentry skill, I love πŸ’• this skill since my collage days because I will usually take out time during the weekend to go for a vocational training on art πŸ–Ό framing. I was learning how to frame arts with little line up woods, little almost invisible nails πŸ’…. I then started to help do little home carpentry works on cabinets when s nail pulls, kitchen hangers to help hang cooking spoons, hitting door hinges back into place and other little indoor amendments.

And apart from the major two skills, I have helped a friend spray her wardrobe when she moved to a new house. She was so tired of spending here and there which is associated with moving into a new accommodation. And her wardrobe doors πŸšͺ where not really sharp the way she needed. So I just told her not worry. All we did was to buy a can of polish of the brown color she needed. And the next day, I set to work by gradually spraying the wardrobe doors πŸšͺ.

DIY is one thing I love πŸ’•. It has helped save me lots of cost πŸ’². And have helped me to always want to do other things even do I might not be perfect 😍. But one thing I have always been afraid of trying is electrical. The anxiety πŸ˜₯ I have for electrical will always push me away , especially because of shocks. So, this is the area I will always stay away from.

This is my response to the #hiveleaners featured content for week 238, edition 03.

Thanks for visiting and reading friends 😍
