Starting with a meme, I saw on internet:

India simply means India before 1947, because we may habe our own independent state, but we share the same ideology. And this showing off is of two or three things: clothes, money and food. One-dish formula is there, but rhere is no implementation. Yes, people will argue that remaining food goes to the charity or local Madrassa, but the one on the table is gone.
However, I have another perspective for this thing. If I throw a food, it does not go in waste completely, some other being - ants, birds, dogs - will be eating it. But, a place where one has to check for left-over in garbage, this is such a flawed perspective.
I agree with you that food thrown away doesn't always become completely useless. Ants, birds, dogs, or other animals may eat it. But I think the bigger issue is why edible food has to reach the garbage in the first place.
My concern in the post was never just about the word "waste." It was about the contrast. On one side, we casually leave half a plate because we want to taste another dish, while on the other side, someone is searching through that same garbage because they genuinely have nothing to eat.
And yes, charity or madrassas may receive some leftover food, which is a good thing. But that shouldn't become an excuse for taking more than we can eat. If we can simply take a smaller portion in the first place, that's already one less plate of food that needs to be rescued from the trash.
For me, that's where the empathy part comes in. It's not about licking our plates clean. It's about respecting food enough to think twice before wasting it.
Good point, understood now 🙌
