Coincidentally I was talking about politics with one of the workers at where am doing our service and it was an interesting conversation. According to him, I can be a good politician just because he thinks I speak pretty well; my answer to that was I am not interested in all this political stuff so I won’t be one in future.

All this came about cause we had seen a very young politician and I made a comment about it. Now, because of the department I am in I get to see a lot of big people come and pass through the terminal; most of them which I obviously don’t know so I usually ask who they are but the ones I know of u usually admire a lot. Now this young man came with one of the honorables and they seemed to be having a nice conversation. I could only notice how big the young man’s tummy was getting so I said “Look at this young man and he’s already enjoying Ghana’s money”. I think this is your answer to what a lot of us think about politicians in the country.

According to some people they are God sent because when they do come around they tend to give money out here and there. Some of them invest in projects in the community they come from and all sorts of things. At times am forced to ask this question, Are all these things that they do for the community and want us to thank them so much for, are they not things that we deserve? Do we deserve to be in a country where we don’t have good classrooms where our kids can study? Do we deserve bad roads while the politicians fly all the time?

No, we don’t, some of the projects which they embark on are mostly with state funds and even if they are not state funds they are stolen money.

Growing up, I’ve never wanted to be a politician. I don’t know why but it is a role that has never really caught my attention because of the things some of them have to go through to become MPs and whatnot. As religious people we believe in the hereafter; am not saying that we are perfect but then most of these politicians get our curses and most of the time people say they will burn in hell. We all belong to different fates in this country but when it becomes too much everyone from different faiths condemns and curses them.

This is not a life that I want for myself.

One thing that I’ve always said is that money changes a lot of people and it’s only a few people who will get money and still be the same person. A poor man who is faithful to one wife will suddenly start to chase models simply because now he has the money to fund the lifestyle which these slay queens want them to give them.

You can never know a man's true colours if he is poor. You’ll only know his true character when he gets money. Because of this ideology I mostly refrain myself from condemning these people. Some of these people who condemn the politicians for stealing state funds will probably do the same if they get the chance.

At times I believe the state of my country is bad but the way it is projected by our leaders is off-road and sincerely I feel like I will be able to do a good job considering I don’t get overwhelmed by the job. Most of the times you don’t even know why all this is happening until you get into the role.
