I am finally back after a week off from the hive learners weekly prompts, it hasn’t been easy staying off here but then there were too many factors responsible for both my absence from the hive blockchain and also from my participation in the hive learners weekly prompts, one of the reasons being the fact that the last couple of voted topics requires deep thought and attention, and for someone who has been sick for some days now, stressing my mental health would do more harm than good to me. Well, that’s that about that, i am back now and that is all that matters, now let’s dive right into what i have for you all today…
Experiencing this firsthand would have given me more insight on today’s topic than having to use the experience of others and my thoughts and views about how some major courses in the tertiary institution these days have been rendered obsolete because of the advancement of technology and the invention of artificial intelligence…
It’s been a couple of years since I graduated high school and i have been home for as long as i can remember. Well, not too long though, but then I could have gotten somewhere if i had made a move immediately after college. It wasn’t choosing a particular department in high school, i had to weigh a lot of things and consider a lot of factors which included job availability and public demand before settling for a department and a particular field of study. It took time but then i chose to be in the science field because I believe science has a lot of opportunities to offer but then it is going to take a whole different level of hard work to attain something meaningful and worthwhile…
Science and Technology have advanced to the extent that some courses and skills have and would surly go into extinction someday, thus rendering these courses and skills totally useless and irrelevant in the real world. What men attend the tertiary institutions to study for years and to make a career out of can now be perfectly done by advanced technology and artificial intelligence. Studying courses like that and learning its skills would be totally irrelevant, the best thing to do is to just get the certificate and dump it for something worthwhile or something artificial intelligence or technology can’t overtake or outdo…
What I know for a fact is that Technology and artificial intelligence can’t totally do it all, they might be able to render some skills and courses irrelevant in this modern age and time but then there are still some courses and skills out there that only the human brain and workforce can totally undertake…
Long before the existence of advanced technology and artificial intelligence, it has been known by many people, especially people from my country that studying a particular course in the tertiary institution and becoming a graduate doesn’t guarantee success afterwards. I have seen men study both relevant and irrelevant courses in tertiary institutions and still end up in the same field as the uneducated. This is the fact about our own country, some courses aren’t meant to be studied here because there is no company that would employ such persons after graduation, which means studying some courses in Nigeria are quite useless because there will be no availability of job after graduation, the resources aren’t available to us here…
There are a couple of courses in our tertiary institution today that can only function outside the country and not in our country, this is because we don’t have that field established here but then our dreams and aspirations made us chase those courses, which at the end of the day becomes useless…
The reason why many people out there go to the tertiary institution to study these courses that have been overtaken by technology and AI is because of those courses are their Dreams and Future. Majority of us go for those course because of self-fulfillment and self-accomplishment, and at the end of the day we end up keeping the certificate and taking up a livelihood in something entirely different from what we studied, and that is where our skills and talents come in handy…
In summary, there is no doubt that many people are affected, but then it’s high time we have a PLAN A, PLAN B, and PLAN C, especially now that both technology and artificial intelligence keep advancing everyday…
In conclusion, I hope things end differently for each and every one of us in our respective fields, but then to those affected it’s never too late to start afresh, but this time venture into something completely new, let your skills and talents pave your paths, we can still chase those irrelevant courses and still make it…
