The only thing that is certain in this life is change. As long as the world is existing, change is constant, so I can’t blame climate too much for changing from what it used to be to what it is now. After all, humans too are changing; we get old every day, and that is making us change every single day.
But then too much of everything they say is bad; climate change is inevitable inasmuch as humans exist, and as we all know, the world itself is changing, all thanks to humans as well.
There are lots of things humans have done that are changing the universe entirely; imagine the way everywhere is messed up with dirty things. People dispose of their refuse on the road, and some people burn stuff, which creates a lot of smoke, and that is not good because every little discomfort we cause the world accumulates, and it will affect the climate.
In as much as I don’t like heat, I can’t deal with too much cold. I love cool weather when there isn’t much sun or much cold. I love it moderately; I can’t deny that, but you know I am only a human, and I don’t have power over the weather and how it should be, so anything that happens with the weather, I just have to deal with it in my own little way so that it won’t affect me too much.
Right from when I was little, I've disliked harmattan because it always makes me have some sickness like a cough, catarrh, and heat rashes. I'm sure some people would say harmattan is always cold; yes, it is cold and dry as well.
The dust is always too much for me during December, and the coldness is definitely not for me, so whenever it is December like that, I always buy enough cardigans and, of course, socks to prevent the weather from getting to me too much.
I remember when harmattan always started at the end of November and ended at the beginning of January, as if someone were there to rotate the weather, and now everything is messed up and the weather is no longer what it used to be again.
Imagine the rain that was supposed to start in July starting in June, and it doesn’t even end when it should, which causes so much damage to people’s properties, and the harmattan that everyone is expecting by December doesn’t come at all, and all of a sudden it starts in the middle of January, which is unusual, but what can we do about it other than to cope with whatever weather we have?
Climate change didn’t just happen; it is humans that caused it. Some years back, I went to visit a friend of mine, and during the time I was there, floods never allowed them to rest. In fact, I couldn’t stay longer as planned all because it was a rainy season, and I cannot deal with the fact that we might sleep in the night on a bed and then wake up inside a flooded house the next morning. Meanwhile, people in the area never stopped dropping refuse inside the gutters, and that has blocked
water path.
It was then I experienced what is called a flood, and I also got to know about climate change. Let’s not lie to ourselves: climate change is a big deal because it is people who are experiencing bad things whenever it rains too much that can tell how climate change is dealing with them.
Talking about flood, the kind.of flood that is experienced in the eastern part of Nigeria is far more destructive that what we have in the south.
Here in Lagos where I live, flood is caused by humans in the name of people who are building houses in the passage that is naturally created for water. The sea surge too is a man made problem in the region too. The popular Eko Atlantic is sitting on the Atlantic ocean. The future of the axis of Lagos is chaotic.
