In as much as I love the private sector because it’s a personal thing that you can report directly to the owner. I still preferred the government sector because it is always more secure and reliable than the private sector.
Sometimes people made mistakes for choosing private sector because they believe it gives them good connections but they forget the fact that government sector has so many opportunities and a lot of benefits as well which you might not have access to when you are dealing with private sector.
I haven’t worked in a government office before or neither have i been treated in a government hospital; in fact, I haven’t dealt with anything that has to do with government aside from school anyway. But I have a friend who her father works in a government office and she said her dad has a lot of benefits he gets from the office compared to his former office which was a private sector. One thing about private business, companies, or individuals is that they don’t give more than what they have agreed on in their contract unless you leave for another place.
My neighbor shared her experience with the company owned by a lady where she had worked before as well; according to what she said, in the company they don’t get salary increments, and the only time they get to have extra pay is during the festive season because they work more in the field than working from the office. During that time they get tips from people who appreciate their work. I don’t know what they produce or sell, but that sounds like they only have a salary to collect from the company and nothing else after that.
Meanwhile, my friend’s dad always comes home with different packages during the festival season because they always share it for them in the office to celebrate the season with their family, and that doesn’t stop them from salary increment and incentive as well, which is bonus payment.
I get to know all this because he always shares everything that is given to him for people, which I do collect sometimes, and I always wish I could get such a job because government work is better, reliable, and gives opportunities for people who are still in service.
I have another people who works in a government office and he got opportunity to travel out of the country to with his family which he wasn’t interested, so he just sent his family there and he remained here in Nigeria to continue his work. Those are the good opportunities the government sector provides sometimes, and getting property as well is one of the opportunities people get when they work in a government office.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying the private sector is bad, but there are more opportunities in the government sector than in the private sector, and moreover, there are chances of getting more promotions in the government sector because there are lots of posts there than in the private sector. So for that reason I will choose government sector over and over again even though their process might be a light bit slow sometimes.
Although, I haven't seen any government worker who seemed happy about their job unless maybe the hide the good part of working in a government sector.
Good point sis. There so many opportunities in the government sectors if only its managed well enough.
And thanks for mentioning reliability in the government sectors because I feel its a more secure place to work for years of long services.
