My skills, My strength

The internet has taken over the entire world as if our lives depend on it, but we all forget that our forefathers never had access to the internet, and yet they lived their lives perfectly, in fact, to the fullest; only that sending messages then was a little bit hard because they had to send someone to another before they could deliver the message.

Having offline skills is what I admire a lot, and that’s probably because my mom made us understand that handwork is the best for everyone since it doesn’t fade away; all you have to do is keep upgrading yourself so that you won’t be outdated and know what is trending about your work, and you are good to go.

Let’s now talk about my offline skills. Aside from being a blogger, I make hair, and that has been my work right from the beginning, even before I dreamt of becoming a blogger.

Can this work provide for me without the help of the internet? Yes, it can take care of me without the help of the internet, and just like what the prompt said, “If the internet crashes down today, can your skills provide for you?” my skills have been providing for me all this while, and it has nothing to do with the internet except for the fact that I want to promote my work by posting the work I have done so far.

Nowadays I wonder how people feel about depending on the internet alone to sell a market. There is no doubt about how much the internet has helped a lot of businesses, but come to think of it, there are works that would move and also provide for someone with or without the help of the internet, and hairdresser is one of those works.

It is not the internet that would help me to plait hair for customers; all I need on the internet is just the style I want to make, and if I can’t access the internet, then the person who wants the style would have to describe the style, and I am good to go.

My boss never posted her work, and she has a lot of customers that make hair from her. It’s not that she doesn’t have a browsing phone, but she always says that “her handwork will speak for her anywhere she goes.” Meanwhile, she gave permission to anyone of us who is interested to post, so some of my seniors do post it.

One thing about handwork is that if you know what you are doing, you have nothing to fear, and anywhere you are called for work, you will have that confidence to charge any amount since you are sure about your handwork.

Hairdresser work is more than enough for me if the internet decides to stop working, and I have been doing this work for years, and what's more, there is always room for improvement, so getting better at it is never a bad idea to me since it puts food on my table.
