Nothing good comes easily, which is what I always heard ever since I was little, because something good requires hard work and perseverance before it can be successful.
These are the main keys to good financial progress
Patient: anyone who fails to be patient when it comes to attaining financial progress. Such a person can't end up well because a baby that was born today won't crawl today or talk tomorrow. Everything about finances takes time before progress can come into the picture.l
Discipline: This is very important in financial progress because when someone is not disciplined with their earnings, they don't know how to expand their finances.
Goals: This is the best part when someone is trying to grow financially because anyone who doesn't have a destination can't reach anywhere. Setting a goal for your finances is just to make sure you are on track with everything you are doing, and setting a goal for your finances will keep track of your financial status.

Then I started earning a salary. I always find it difficult to save up so that I will be able to stand up for myself financially whenever there is a need for it. I thought living with my sister was going to be a long-term thing, so I always spent recklessly on whatever I needed and on what I didn't need as well.
Until the day my sister came home with a proposal ring, she was getting married, and I would be left alone to fend for myself, including paying bills. And you guys know how hard it is to live in Lagos.
Some months after my sister got married, I started falling into debt unintentionally because I didn't know how to discipline myself when it came to buying items. I always felt like when I needed something, I should get it. I never knew that not all the things I needed were necessary.
The house rent was due, there was no food at home, and the salary I was earning was so little to the extent that it couldn't take care of all the debt. I asked my sister for help, and she told me to get a smaller apartment since it was just me alone.
I collected the salary and got a very small apartment, which was affordable for me. I didn't bother buying too many items; I just got the ones that were important to me, because some things are not important but we just want to have them because we feel like we need them.
I started saving up as well because once I failed to discipline myself from spending recklessly, I would face the consequences later when bills arrived at my door. Some of my colleagues wondered why I stopped buying stuff, but then I told them I live alone now, which means I am responsible for myself.
With discipline, patience, and setting a goal, I was able to sustain the apartment and take care of myself for the majority of the time I was living alone.
What I have learned so far about finances is that when someone is patient enough, he or she will definitely achieve the goals he has set for himself.
My advice for people who don't know how to grow their financial status is that they should stop buying things that are not important so that that money can be saved, and with that, their financial status will progress. It helped me, and I am sure it will help others as well.
Setting goals really curbs reckless spending and you won't go for things that are not important to the goals already set.
Thanks for sharing
That is absolutely right, once you disciplined yourself it will be very easy to achieve anything you set your goals on
You have shared really important lesson for anyone who cares to listen. Until responsibility come into the picture, many of us didn't know what financial management means and we learned our lessons the hard way.
This is quite educative and I enjoyed reading.
That is right most of us don't care about our finances until we take responsibility
Your points are really cogent.
Discipline is very important to ones financial freedom.
Setting a goal without discipline is a wish list.
Thanks for sharing this.
Yeah, setting a goal without discipline means nothing because if the person doesn't discipline themselves in how they spend they won't achieve their goals.
We need to always have the picture that everything has time. Responsibility must surely come.
Nice one sis. Thanks for sharing.
