I think about it I pretty much list everything it is in one go when talking about Hive with someone new and maybe that kind of scares people away.
That could be the case... We should "present" only the part that the potential new Hivian is currently using... That's probably the easiest way to onboard as information overload always have negative effect and scares people, like you said...
That's kind of how I see content here in a way, slowly quality content creators force everyone else to up their own game in order to stand out and keep up.
THIS! I found "only" one, but HUGE problem regarding that... When I see some big curators (whales) upvoting content randomly, without even checking it, it does the complete opposite to HIVE than you said for YT... When someone from "outside" sees a shitpost upvoted by big votes, they will think that they can do the same... In some way, it encourages people to create shitposts, while it should be as you said... If you reward good content, you will attract good creators...
Until delegating to some curator involves an "automatic" upvote for the person, we will slow down our "quality content growth"...
I mean, it's not that ALL big curators are doing that, but you can easily spot who does, and some use that as their "selling point" to people who delegate to them... IMO, that's the wrong way to do things and it harms HIVE in the long term...
Yeah, 100%, we need to focus on the individual more than giving an overall explanation that loses them.
It's pretty dangerous for the development of Hive if things just get upvoted randomly, but I'm not really sure how to combat quality control without using downvotes that could then lead to anger and conflict on a large scale.
Maybe we need to reconsider what is considered Hot, or Top. Trending content here is based on the amount of money a post earns, maybe we need to rethink that idea and have a separate section for trending content that is based on the quality of it rather than how much it earned. That way good content will be promoted, and gain attention rather than lesser work that is overpaid.
As far as delegating the majority of the available HP here to a few accounts, I had this thought a while ago and I don't know if I'm right or wrong. But, let's say 10 accounts have a lot of HP delegated to them, that could be an issue if we do get some form of 'Mass Adoption' because with a huge amount of creators, the large curator accounts wouldn't physically be able to upvote all of them, so it would actually be better to have the HP distributed among multiple accounts so they actually have the mana to curate more content and keep up with the userbase expansion.
Obviously, I'm nobody and don't have all the answers, but I do have a lot of ideas about Hive in general, and thoughts for ways to potentially help certain problems I have seen.
