Election Tension Sent Me To The Restroom

Hello dear friends, welcome to another week of hiving. I believe we had a pleasant past week.

At this age of mine, I've got a lot of stories to share which are bitter, sour and sweet.
However, I sat back reminiscing over my life to pick a story for our reading pleasure but my mind was clouded with so many stories that I didn't even know which to pick so I decided to go through my photo album so it will help me pick a specific story and then boom! I got it.

I was tensed

Sometimes around February 2020, I got a call from my friends about an election ban lifted by my tribal youth association which I am an active member. Unfortunately, they advised I buy form for the post of financial secretary hence one of our friends bought for treasurer which I tried negotiate with him so we could swap but he refused and I had to stick with the financial secretary.

After the purchase, I underwent screening like my fellow aspirants and subsequently presented my manifesto to the congress which was fair enough as I was the only female aspirant with a male contender. I got all the standing ovation with the assurance of possibly winning or so I thought.

The election commenced few hours after the manifestos and I was somehow calmed. Some people formed a clique and were hailing me as the new financial secretary but I shushed them as it was against the electoral act to campaign on the election ground. I told them the electoral committee will surely announce the winner and by then, we all will know who wins.

Thirty minutes to the close of vote casting, I realized two of my friends were not around so I called them which they rushed down from another meeting to cast their votes and they were the last people before the electoral committee drew the curtain and counting commenced immediately.

Fast forward to vote counting.
I was highly tensed and began to lament over the money I used in purchasing the form because from the calling of names, I heard more of my opponent's name than mine.
Oh boy! I had to visit the rest room immediately to ease some tension and by the time I returned, proper announcement was about to be said.
Luckily, I beat my opponent with just two votes! What? You are as surprised as I was right?
I couldn't contained my joy as I rushed to those two friends of mine for a serious hug because as far as I'm concerned, only the two of them voted for me as every other person was just using sweet tongue to wash me.

That was how I became the financial secretary till date though the work is more cumbersome than I envisaged.
Notwithstanding, God's grace is carrying us through.

Phew! From that day, I made up my mind not to join politics because tension will kill me even before the announcement of the results. Imagine this local stuff got me on my toes and I don't want to imagine what bigger elections will cause me.
