There's not much that I can say that you haven't already said it. I think about it like you. The social media is here to stay and we need to use it wisely.
Also, I don't agree with children using social media, it's a dangerous place for them and they don't know how to use it the right way.

You have to be very careful with children, the internet and social networks are a dangerous land when you don't have experience, so I think we should always keep an eye on them, always trying to talk and explain things. That's the thing about social media: those who know how to make the most of it can monetize it in some way and take advantage of it.
I've tried to monetize my social media before, but I hadn't success on it. Right now I don't use web2 social networks, I just use YouTube to watch some videos and to listen to music, but nothing more.
