Everybody have diverse perspective on the importance of education. To some people, education is worth all the struggles, while to some, it is better to better to learn a handwork and earn from there.
Some time ago, i was opportune to talk to a few person about their perspective of education. Some told me that they are just going to school to fulfill all righteousness, while some said that going to school is not worth the stress. They preferred to learn a lucrative skill under somebody.
Gone are the days when being a literate is a thing of pride. Many years ago, education was the key to success but currently i don't think the same thing can be said. My parents sacrificed a lot to make sure that they were educated. Honestly, during that time, it actually paid off because after school, they had jobs that payed well.
Fast forward to what we have currently, I can't proudly say that education is the key to success in my country.
Welp, this is an entry to hive learners prompt, Still worth it. In this post i would write about the education system in my country. I will write on my perspective of whether or not its still worth it to be educated and lastly, I will also write on if i feel the school system is doing a good job to secure the future.
The education system is crumbling and little to nothing is being done to make it stand again. After graduation, job scarcity make people take up petty jobs that they never thought they will ever do.
The system of education in my country is not all that good. People have lost faith in the success promised by education. The average person over here prefers to learn how to trade, or learn a lucrative handwork instead of going to school as they believe that school is a scam.
There are lots of values that school provides, but then, what is the use of those values if you can't use it to provide your daily needs? Imagine schooling for many years only to come out and start hunting for jobs with little or no success.
When i was a kid, my moms dream for me was to be educated. In her words, "I want you to make money using a pen, a paper and that little brain of yours." Those days was when education had value and it pays to be educated.
I really love education. I love learning and growing my knowledge. However, sometimes it gets difficult. I studied nursing to help save lives. Looking back at how much i spent in nursing school and the amount of stress i'm passing through, i can't help it but have a bit of regret. When i look at it from the financial perspective, its not worth it, but when i look at it from the perspective of saving life, i think its worth every struggle and every dime spent.
No matter how bad the days tend to be. No matter how bad the education system in this country is. Even if it doesn't seem like the future is secured with education, I think its worth it to be educated. Even if there is no job, its better to be educated than to not be educated. Education brings a whole different and rich mindset.
Thank you for reading.

There are opportunities you will still miss if you don't have a degree, the educational system is still crumbling for many reasons,,true that..now it requires additional certification for one to bag a better job. What we are missing is how to put in what we learn to practice sometimes.
I think the thing with having a degree is that its not easy to get a job. It could take months or even years and some money to pay for the job, but when you finally get the job, it will be difficult to go back to the level that you started from.
It will be better to have be educated and still have something to sustain you while you search for a job.
First we have to understand what education is all about, and now how to sort our ways to success.
Education opens a lot of doors. Being literate is a plus and understanding how to use acquired knowledge is very important for growth
Education is still really important, this is that one thing that we can be proud no matter where we go. It will always be with us. It's sad that some see it as not worth a try, although for sure their reason can be valid too. Anyways, I am one of those who doesn't like to study, but I already finish my school, I just don't want to go back ag it if ever someone will ask me. Haha
I think we share something in common as it relates to the little interests towards studying. I don't like studying too, but most times, i have to force myself which makes things worst. Lol..
I prefer to read at my own pace and feel happy while at it.
No matter the struggles some graduates faces, I will say that education still worth all the effort , but nowadays adding up skills can be more great if we can

Honestly, being educated without having a skill is very risky. Even when you finally get a job, the work place may put you on a 3 months probation during which your skills will settle your needs.
Education is worth all the money and stress, but having a skill is very important.
In your case, I think you just need a change of environment , your skill may not be valued here in Nigeria but if you seek greener pasture in foreign country, it will be worth it.
This is the reason why I said education is not a scam, it depends on the individual, some professions like nursing, lawyer, doctor, engineer and so on requires higher level education… it all depends on the path we want to take. And path like education isn’t scam.. it may not be easy to change country but it will be worth it for you In the long run esp if you can also secure your nursing job there. You are made !
Education don't really favor everyone. Its probably based on course we study. For example, somebody that studied a good course that has employment will not say that education is scam. conversely, somebody that studied zoology or other course that don't really have good pay on here, will probably say that education is scam.
Again, some people don't really perceive education as scam because of the course they studied didn't favor them. Another reason why some persons may perceive education as scam is probably because of the broken system. Why study hard when N2k will help you pass a test and assignment. Those that don't have the 2k to give will study hard and still fail the course because they didn't sort their lecturer.
yea right. A problem without a solution, as the system is corrupted from the bottom to the top.

I can relate Pakistani Educational systems with your education system Harris. It's not worth achieving degree because of lack of practical experience, skill buildings. Institutions are only focusing on making the students cram the pages of books.
But the worst of all is that our society need Degree or Certificate for recognition in various profession or fields.
Thats another thing. Instead of teaching and helping students assimilate, institutions are indirectly telling students to cram.
I remember when i was in school. There was a course, Primary Health Care. I hated this course to the core because the lecturer in-charge of it asks us to write exactly what is in our note when answering his exam questions.
I was like - I'm i a robot? How do i cram about over 30 pages of book? This practice actually promotes exam malpractice a lot.

Education is always a pride dear. Today, still education is key to success. I hope with time, you will get better opportunities.
True, education is key. However, i think there should be a skill to help you if you dont have a job yet.
