Artificial Intelligence—or AI—is a part of our lives. While AI was not widely known until recently, it has now become an integral part of our existence. Today, everyone needs AI, and we all use it. The question arises: is AI our enemy, or is it our responsibility? Humans are the ones who invent and create technology; we use it with the aim of making our lives easier. While some people use it correctly and others misuse it, that does not mean the technology itself is flawed. Yes, we should be mindful of potential misuse during development, but if someone deliberately misuses it, the fault lies with the individual, not the technology.
Today, people can use AI for learning. A businessperson can get ideas on how to expand their business. If we need an idea to create something new, we can use AI for that as well. These are the benefits of this technology. However, if someone uses it for the wrong purposes, the fault lies solely with that individual; it implies they failed to act responsibly.
Let me explain this to you with an example.
Humans invented the camera, enabling us to capture images—ranging from distant scenes to the tiniest of objects. This technology has been incredibly significant, offering the potential to bring about positive changes in our lives; however, if a person misuses this invention, the fault lies with them, not the technology. If someone’s privacy is violated due to a camera, it means the individual failed to act responsibly and abused the technology—yet we cannot blame the technology itself. Humans must exercise responsibility; if that responsibility is disregarded, the technology can be misused. AI is similar in this regard. It has simplified many tasks for us, but as it becomes increasingly powerful, concerns regarding its potential misuse are also growing.
Technology gives us power, but how we use that power is our responsibility.
AI is created by humans. When developing AI systems, we must ensure that the technology is not misused; preventing the abuse of power is crucial. I believe AI will become increasingly integrated into our lives in the future. Halting its progress entirely is likely not a practical solution. Instead, we need to understand AI and learn to distinguish between its proper and improper use.
Is AI our enemy? I would ask—are we responsible enough to use AI?
AI is a powerful tool. Like any powerful tool, the outcome depends on the user's intent. Ultimately, technology can shape our future; therefore, rather than fearing AI, we need to learn how to use it correctly and responsibly. I believe this understanding is vital because AI is a boon for us.
Conclusion
I would say that humans create technology, yet they can also become its destroyers. I am not speaking about everyone, but if individuals understood their responsibilities, they would never harm others. AI is a tool created by humans; it follows the instructions given to it. Consequently, the tool only responds based on the input it receives from us—it simply executes what we command. How technology is used depends entirely on human mindset. While people may have either positive or negative intentions, technology itself cannot be labeled as "wrong." Since human judgment can be flawed—unlike technology—everyone should strive to use technology correctly.
