Alright guys, let me begin by saying that there were a handful of events, the most famous of which is the forbidden fruit called Hamster Kombat. Anyways, let's bear the heartbreak and forge ahead to the next agenda.
Talking about children and whether parents would let them face life challenges. There are always two sides to a coin. In this piece, I will try to balance it by looking at both sides. But first things first.
Children are heritage that must be prepared to continue the family lineage and to better it than it was passed on to them. In doing this, there is a need for preparation. May I say here that some children, from the history of our community, whose parents were well-to-do could kit manage their family business because, from inception, they were not prepared. Hence, the reason why I want to look at this topic from two perspectives.
It is right to protect the children that we have. In doing so, all that we are meant to do as parents is to teach them, instruct them, direct them, and be their coach. This is the strategy employed by most wealthy families to ensure that the family heritage is passed on adequately to the next generation.
If you take a closer look at our nation, you will see that the big horns who have been in government or politics, business, banking and what have you, still have their children in the system. This is because they have been trained to wash hands with the high and mighty.
One may think that the children of the high and mighty are over-pampered. In this sense, they are only their parent company. It could be through that there is a level of pampering but in the end, the children still make it in life more easily than children of middle-class parents.
Children from homes of wealthy parents are secure and protected. They have most of the facilities they need to have a good life and learn quality lessons from life than children of middle-class or lower-class parents.
They do not have to face the rigour of life as frequently as children of the lower and middle class. Learning with them could be direct.
This is the type of learning where the learner has a direct link with the content or material that is under study. For example, Femi Otedola's children, popular DJ Cuppy became the first African and Nigerian to be the host of a United Nations Conference. This becomes easy for her to link up with because of her social status.
She must have learned the business aspect of being the daughter of one of Africa's richest men. This is to say that wealth could be trans-generational.
Here, the child has to learn in order to break the vicious circle of poverty. That is one of the most valuable reasons why children of the poor go to school. Unlike the children of the rich who go to school to learn or to manage or maintain generational wealth.
The children here are allowed to learn through indirect means. Rote learning is common in this class.
Children are at their best when they have someone who has passed a route before, leading them through until they are strong enough to walk the path by themselves.
One man's food is another man's poison.
What may work for you may not work for another person? It is good to assist children to succeed. Though, some situations may present themselves where children from some homes have to struggle and learn the street way, the hard way before they break the jinx. There are several testimonies about this.
Hence, as a parent, it is good to give your ward the best assistant that he or she may need to succeed in life.
Parents should teach their wards morals and also lead by example. Our children learn most of their attitude through what we do or say.
Not all children who are meant to learn on their own without their parents' support were able to come out strong. Most of them end up as vulnerable in the hands of peers who influenced them negatively.
Finally, parents should be their ward's best friend, coach and confidant.
This summarizes it all. Socialization and learning starts from the family. The parents have a great role to play in guiding the children.
On the issue of hamster combats, Nigerians were hit by the outcome.
Hamster broke many hearts.
The family/home is the first agent of socialization, it's role in bringing up a child can not be neglected.
Yes
One man food is truly another man's poison. What might work for you might not work for others like you said earlier. Do your thing and in all, allow God to lead you.
Hmm. The God factor is a must if your children must succeed in this world where pressure are influence are on the rampage.
Yes
It really is because we can't do it all by ourselves
Many thanks, @hivepakistan
I agree with you, Sir. Give them the basic things, let them struggle and hustle, but don’t be far from them.
That's how we should role, else, their are lions out there that may turn their reasonings negatively.
