Social Medial And Politics: The Pros and Cons

No doubt that social media has been helping every country in so many ways I've seen how other countries uses social media for political purposes. Both the voters and the politicians. My country is one of what I'm talking about.Talking about my country, I will say social media is the only voice we have got in everything, even though people are afraid of using the social media they way they want it. And this is because we are just called a democracy country by mouth, we actually can not say whatever we want or else we would be threatened by the so called authorities.But with the help of social media, we were able to at least have a voice in whatever we are doing.

Before the usage of social media, I will say that we are truly in the darkness. More reasons why the government tries all ways just to get rid of social media.There were even some times that if you ain't using VPN you will not be able to login to some social media, e.g Twitter and that was because they had seen that is the only power we have.Talking about the political aspect, social media has given us the ability to let the whole world to know what we are facing. I could remember some ways at which the social media has been of help in the political aspect.

Talking about 2023 where the social media was used for political purposes, I remembered the presidential election where Peter obi's campaign goes viral on the social media and that was because the youth was ready to give it everything it takes so he could win.He won some aspect, and losses some. Although he wasn't the president at the moment. But the fact that social media was used for something good at the moment is something that really amazed me.

Moreso in the year 2020, social media was also used for something really interesting and good, this year was year #endsars. Where there are lots of controversy between the government and the citizens. Although it resulted to lots of casualties and lots more, but at least the world sees everything and no one will forget what happened in the year 2020.

As at this year, there was a corp member, that used social media to talk about the current president regime and how he called him a terrible government. Some people stood against her that she's abusing the president while some stand with her, a week to that the corp members allowance was increased, something that supposed to have increased all this while.

Lots of people supported this girl because honestly more than half of the country is poor and hungry and everything is damn expensive.The government on the other hand uses social media for so many things, since they all knew that's our strength now, they uses it as a means of campaign by reaching out to the youth.

Has it had a good effect politically?
Yes and no, yes in the fact that, they will pretend to do whatever we want at the moment but no because there are lots of casualties that has happened in the past because of using social media and honestly our government do not care.

Although we have a good way to at least access the Internet on time, unlike before that no one knows what exactly is going on.If I'm to change anything on social media, then it will be the fake news which I don't think is possible, before you know what happened, you would have already concluded on fake news. Most things on social media are fake.
