Major Cause Of Pollution In My Area
Truthfully, the highest percentage of pollution that exists in the world today is caused by human beings. We do a lot of harmful things that are hazardous to the environment. When it comes to taking care of the environment, most human beings care less about it. They don't care if the surrounding is serene or not, once their immediate environment is neat, making other places suitable isn't their business at all.
Here in Nigeria, people dump refuse as they like, if you aren't careful they can pack their dirt in a waste disposal nylon and dump at your doorstep when the night falls. I've seen a situation whereby people turned a vacant land to an incinerator all because the owner of the land has not developed it, it's absurd!
In my beloved country, almost everyone thought that waste is not good for anything, we waste the waste and use it to inconvenience others. Nothing like recycling at all, once the night falls, people litre the surroundings including major highways with their refuse.
The waste management system in the country isn't functioning despite the government daily messages online and giggles on broadcasting stations, people still do as they like and it's causing a lot of harm.
The most disgusting of all is when people dump refuse in drainages, like I don't get it....why will people be so inhuman? Once they see that it's about to rain, even just seeing that the cloud is changing like this, the next thing you will start seeing people from different angles dumping their refuse in drainages and rivers next to their house so that the water will help them wash it away.......pls will the refuse be washed to Pluto? People abuse the water bodies as they like and it's extremely bad.
Inappropriate waste disposal is the major cause of pollution in my area and it has caused the blockage of major drainages thereby causing flood. Sometimes when it's the dry season, the rivers are filled up with wastes and the water becomes stagnant resulting in giving out offensive smells.
I usually boycott some vicinity in my area all because of odours that can make one throw up, even seeing how green the surface of some rivers in my area irritates me a lots
I believe to curb people from this bad habit of littering the environment the government still have a lot of work to do. Though the government are trying but it's not enough, let there be environmental and waste management team that are up and doing. Just like there are Road Safety Personnel, let their be waste management system that can manage our waste and arrest those that abuse the environment.
Let there be strict law for waste disposal, once violators are charged to court and giving community services to do, others will learn from them and be careful of how they handle their waste.
Also there should be a sensitization on waste management for the citizens so that they can know the hazard involved when their waste is disposed of wrongly and the benefits of rightfully dumping of waste.
It's indeed very important for us to take good care of the planet earth just like we are taking care of our body. Pollution of any kind is hazardous to our health.

The waste management system in this country is crazy. You see, people dump their dirts in the gutters just because it's raining, and sometimes, I wonder if they think about where the waste would eventually be dumped. Mostly, we're the creators of our own issues and sicknesses.

No lie in all you've stated here, we are the cause of our pollution, the drainage blocking own just makes me pissed at the kind of people we are living with, the question about where the waste goes to doesn't concern them at all
