This is something surreal if you go back a few years and look at how things were done, which is why, to understand the magnitude of what is happening, we need to look back. But then, with this ease, speed, and efficiency, would it still be useful to learn a language?

In my opinion, learning something will always be the best thing anyone can do, regardless of whether you are learning a language that can be easily replaced by technology for communication purposes. Learning is a way of seeing the world differently. It is the ability to expand your way of thinking, and a new language is certainly one of the best ways to do that, to think like a person from that culture, to stimulate your brain in different ways, and even to find different ways of reasoning. At least that's what I imagine from the brief moments of learning other languages that I've had, since I'm not fluent in English, but I try to learn a little every day.

But in any case, I don't see learning a new language only as a necessity for communication or to expand your way of thinking, two things that are already enough to say that technology cannot completely replace the need for learning. Learning a language is also a way to seek independence in communication. Of course, having technology at our disposal to make everything easier is good, but it is also important to be independent in situations where technology is not present or has failed. So, does learning something take up space inside you and at some point become useless? No. So there is no reason to give it up.

Of course, even if we tried, we would not be able to learn all the languages in the world and communicate fluently with everyone. This is where technology comes in as an incredible and powerful tool, capable of bringing us closer to other people even if they speak languages we do not know, or rarer languages, perhaps even languages isolated to specific tribes. I don't know if we have that fully yet, but maybe it's just a matter of time. But technology does help, and I can say from my own experience that I communicate almost every day in English, a language I don't fully master, and with a few clicks, things become completely clear to my understanding. Is it a marvel of our age or not?

Anyway, what I think is that just because something is no longer so necessary and there is technology to supply it, we should not abandon the idea of learning. We can continue to enjoy our ability to learn and explore the immersion that learning another language can give us. We can also use technology to bring this closeness in communication and even explore languages we don't know, communicate better in our own language, and still be understood. Perhaps the key point in all this is to bring more accessibility in communication to those who have not had the opportunity to learn. So I can say that there is a huge benefit in this technological advancement, but we must not lose the essence of learning.
