More Holidays or Better Work-Life Balance? A Nigerian Perspective

Holidays are one thing we wish we cherished and enjoyed, even I. They help us relax, reflect on the issue at hand, spend time with family, do an event you initially planned, strengthen family bonds, and so much more. You could think of it as a time of celebration.

One thing I enjoy most whenever I am on holiday is relaxing and sleeping a lot. It helps me calm my nerves and relax my bones. I feel much more alive after taking a deep rest and am ready for the next day's activities.

According to Hive learners prompt do we need more holidays? Needing more holidays I dont think is a better solution it will make us get more lazy people unwilling to work yeah stuff like that. Me looking at my country calendar yeah the holidays are fair cause if I were given more than that in the current economy wouldn't that make us lazier people unable to work just to survive not to mention this greedy world we are now where money defines who you are and everything.

Currently in Nigeria, we are holding several holidays I'm talking about our mixed cultural holidays I think there are about 13-15 public holidays in Nigeria, and on weekends if we do the maths Nigeria has a lot of holidays compared to other countries. I remember when there were doing Eid fell on a weekend people were required to be off also and on Tuesday meanwhile it only meant to be spent on Sunday and Monday but some companies approved while others dont approve even during Christmas hours people spent about two weeks in some companies during their holiday hours.

However the issue of us having more holidays isn't wise at all as I said earlier Nigeria economic is worst at the moment inflation hits harder than we can think off, foods price are increasing each day not to talk of petrol even currently right now dollar has drop up to a significant amount but what do my country care about that the price doesn't affect them cost of living would want to kill a man tell me are we still to go on more holidays then?

If we are to look into this perspective too many holidays slow down production would you agree with me in some cases like banking, manufacturing, government sectors, and also food distribution companies, supermarkets, and all that cause everyone would be reluctant to go home to take a holiday just to be with their loved ones.

So in all have is now the answer to do we need more holidays? The answer doesn't lie in increasing the holidays rather improving the work balance for us. For example, many Nigerians work more than their pay receiving little am a victims of such acts once the matter of holidays comes we demand more to reduce the stress being taken on during work. If our work is paying us more than enough the current holiday we have in a year is enough for us to scale through the year.
