W51E3 Urban or Rural Area; My Experience

Living in the rural area for me has been a great experience. I lived in the rural area for 20years and I can tell you that life in the rural area is fun, simple and less stressful.
My experience in the rural area is one that I would cherish for the rest of my life.

What I love about the rural area;
Nature:
The rural area is filled with green vegetations and there is this feel of connection one has with nature which brings about a sense of peace and calm. I remember one early morning, as we were taking a walk towards the stream we saw an Antelope crossing the bush path, I was 10years old at the time and I was amazed by the site of this animal.
In the urban area trees are cut down for building houses and there is really no natural site
in the urban areas, they have all been replaced with high rise buildings and residential buildings. I visit parks in the city but the feeling is not natural to me but seems more artificial.

Communal Life style;
I love the rural area because everyone lives as one, you can be forgiven if you are of the opinion that everyone there are siblings. I remember how my mum will cook and we would share the food with our neighbors and our neighbors would do the same. We lived as one big family. Everyone was interested in the wellbeing of the others. This helped me to learn a lot of virtues and have absolute respect for others.
I remember moving to the urban area and I had a culture shock. I stayed in a building that had 15 apartments in it and for close to 2weeks I did not know the name of my nextdoor neighbor or any form of information about him. I noticed how everyone minded his or her business. Everyone stayed indoor and there was no form of relationship with each other. At first I hated it but with time I realized that it was a normal phenomenon in the urban area.

Little or no environmental hazard:
In the rural area there is little or no form of pollution. The air in the rural area is not polluted by carbon from industrial buildings or factories. The rural area is clean , less noise and there is a lot of serenity.
In the urban areas the environmental hazard is on a high side, we can say that is the cost for industrialization or urbanazition.
Noise pollution is high,this is expected because of the number of cars and commuters on the road on a daily basis.

Food;
Most people might say why food, to me there is a great difference when it comes to this aspect. The first I noticed was that people in the rural areas seemed more healthy than those in the urban areas. I was a little bit curious about it , I made my findings and I discovered that in the urban areas people eat a lot of junk food which is not really healthy. In the rural area I could remember how all our food were fresh and straight from the farm.

I know I love the rural area, yes because I do go there for holidays and I can tell you that it is always amazing. To be truthful there are a lot of things that the rural areas lack that is essential or necessary to human being. I will mention some of them below;

1. Good health facilities; there is little or no presence of health institutions in the rural area like we have in the urban areas. This is not a good thing because some of the lives that have been lost in the rural areas could have been saved if they had access to good health facilities.

2. Industrialization; The world is fast developing an the rural areas have been left behind. I remember going to a village and I ran out of cash and I was looking to purchase some items and I couldn't do that because the stores in the area only delt with cash, no form of electronic transaction was accepted. I felt so frustrated that I had to drive to the urban area to make withdrawal.

3. Good road network; We all know that in the urban areas the road network is good unlike what we have in the rural areas.

4.Power Supply; Electricity supply in the urban area is much better than the rural areas, being that most people in the rural area don't even have electrical appliances and they really don't care about power. The life of urban dwellers are completely hooked to power.

The rural area and urban area have their own advantage and disadvantages. In all I would say that one need a bit of both. It is always good when we have a balance between the two areas. As much as I love the urban area with all it's industrialization and development, I will always appreciate the experience in the rural area . This two places have helped to shape me and I am always grateful for having the opportunity to experience life in the two places.
