I have shared this story a couple of times but would still share it again because whenever I remember how I foolishly fell for my first ever scam I am reminded to watch my greed. I have been scammed three times in my life and all came as a result of greed and stupidity. If I was content I would have kept my money but I was greedy and the scammers did well to prey on my stupidity. Now that I think about it, I wasn’t just scammed because I did not know better, I was scammed because I wanted to reap where I did not sow and that made me stop being inquisitive to ask the right questions. But then again, ignorance was also a factor that made me fall for those cheap scams, I was new in the internet world and still ignorant to how money works.

It was in 2016 when I made my first $1000 from digital marketing. I sold a particular high end course that earned me more than I could ever hope to get. I really needed the money then because I was already in the higher institution but when I got it, I started seeing posts of people saying they could multiply my earnings and even triple it. My greed got the better of me and I decided to see it through and know what they could really do. When I enquired I was told to bring $100 and I would get $300 in 5 minutes, this offer was so tempting to me that I did not even ask any question. I gave my entire $1000 so I could make $3000 and that was how I lost everything I worked so hard for. It didn’t even occur to me immediately that I had been scammed until these people were asking for more.

They gave different excuses of why my payment was delayed and asked that I paid more to get my money. If I had the money I would have paid but I didn’t. It wasn’t until after three days that I realized after thinking deeply that these people were scammers and I would never get my money back. All my money gone, all my plans shattered and even though I made more money afterwards I didn’t get that much at a single go. It wasn’t long after I joined the MMM ponzi scheme hoping to recover the money I lost with the little I got and I lost everything again. That was when I began to read the patterns and realized money doesn’t multiply just like that. It was a hard pill to swallow, but I had to swallow it regardless. Although I bounced back, that loss really hindered me in a lot of ways and even contributed to the reason I had to drop out when my parents could no longer afford my fees.
